It is the most magical time of the year, and the island of Maamunagau invites guests at this year’s festive time to embrace all the good things in life and around the world. Celebrating love, family, culture, mindfulness and all the things that give us good vibes and positive energy.

InterContinental Maldives Maamunagau Resort is looking forward to leading guests on a path of positivity and appreciation. From the simple things in life, such as quality time with the family and having new experiences to taking a moment to oneself to recharge before another exciting year commences. Unforgettable adventures and culinary journeys also await during this year’s festive season at Maamunagau.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

Kicking off this year’s festive season with the Kids Fashion Show and Christmas tree lighting, where guests can expect a magical evening with Christmas Carol singers serenading while the Christmas tree lights up for the first time in 2023. A tropical Christmas Eve awaits with a splendour of culinary excellence, set at the beach – a spread of delicacies and live stations turning this evening into a wonderful feast for families and couples alike, just before the Christmas spirit peaks with the arrival of Santa the next morning.

FAMILY DAYS & LOVE

In the spirit of celebrating the good things in life, we inspire guests to focus on spending time together in a mindful and meaningful way, enjoying positive and lasting experiences, embracing each other’s perks and talents but also going back to the simple things in life we might sometimes forget about in our daily, busy routines. With plenty of activities that encourage fun, education and achievements, such as fishing and sand art competitions, sports events at the beach and on the ocean, culinary classes and wellness-focused offerings, this year’s festive season has much to offer the small and tall.

For the little ones, the Planet Trekkers Kids Club is open to fill the hours of the day with fun and excitement, with plenty of activities where the kids get to make new friends, have fun experiences and learn one or the other new skill. Not to miss the magical touches from internationally acclaimed Magician Tom Weil, impressive dance moves by the local hip hop phenomena ‘Roboman’ and sand art by Iphpha.

HEALTH & WELLNESS

Inspired by wellness techniques from around the world that have driven the health and wellness world to another level, guests can embark on a holistic wellness journey at the AVI Spa. Guests get to energise with the residence Fitness and Wellness practitioners throughout the festive days as well as balance their body’s energy with mindful practices. Treatments are offered to address everything from head to toe, with techniques and practices from all around the world.

CULTURAL EXPLORATION AND CULINARY SPLENDOUR

As many returning guests will know, the festive season is the time to shine for the culinary team of Maamunagau. This year, they will even step up their excellence by offering a cultural angle to the festive culinary journey with specially themed dining experiences. The attention lies on trying, teaching and enjoying with a set of different cooking classes, breakfast specials and afternoon teas from around the world, and creative dinner arrangements throughout. This year, the resort’s culinary team will welcome visiting chef David Hemmerle. The French-born and trained Michelin-Star Chef, currently the head Chef of Grand Cru, a wine-minded restaurant in the heart of Moscow, will extend his culinary expertise to our resort cuisine throughout this Festive Season. Hemmerle feels right at home in the world of Michelin-rated restaurants as he has collaborated and worked in haute-cuisine establishments all over the world, including the Parisian Pavillon Ledoyen (three Michelin stars) at the invitation of award-winning master Yannick Alléno.

NEW YEAR, NEW BEGINNINGS

As the year ends, guests can look forward to a smashing New Year’s Eve event with live music, artistic performances and a culinary spread to remember.
