Tasmania is located about 240 kilometers from the southern part of the Australian mainland, and it prides itself as the world’s most remote travel and tour locations. There are just a little over half a million people who live on this secluded island.

Whenever you find yourself in Tasmania, things to do include touring some of the most exotic sites, eating in exquisite restaurants, skiing, and other fun stuff that would make your stay a memorable one.

Very quickly, I will run you through some of the best places to visit and things to make you vacation in Tasmania worth the while.

1. Wineglass Bay

Your trip is incomplete if you don’t feed your eyes with the beautiful sight of the Wineglass bay. Sitting around the beach is a satisfying experience. It gives a nostalgic feeling of enjoying a fascinating interaction between the sky and the sea. The aerial view is glorious and leaves you wondering while nature’s beauty hides in this remote location.

2. Museum of Old and New Art (MONA)

This museum is notorious for sending a message of sex and death – it doesn’t mean you’re going to die on a visit to the MONA. According to David Walsh, it is a “subversive adult Disneyland”. Up and running since January 2011, it has become the rendezvous of ancient and modern art. The antic collections take you on a trip to the old world while giving you a feel of the present.

3. Bay of Fires

Tasmania looks to have a good number of bays to make your stay relaxing. This bay has white beaches, sky blue ocean water, and hued granite rocks beyond the shores. The name “Bay of Fires” came from Captain Tobias Furneaux when he allegedly saw fires on the beach. Activities you can participate in include swimming, boating, fishing, bird watching, walking, and surfing. It’s a fun place to be with, especially for a family vacation.

4. Salamanca Market

If a Saturday catches up with you in Tasmania, then you must take a tour of the Salamanca market. This market is the most visited tourist attraction in Tasmania. There’s a beehive of activities between 0800hrs and 1500hrs Australian time. When you visit, you’ll see a selection of bespoke artworks, jewellery, organic products, and tasty hot foods.

5. Cradle Mountain National Park

Cradle Mountain National Park provides one of the best connections you can have with nature. You get to feel the spongy floors full of moss, the boardwalks, the scenic wildlife, and every other thing nature has to offer. The thing about this park is that it has very unpredictable weather shifts. You may want to get your travel bag loaded with different kits for different weather conditions. It’s a small price to pay to be in sync with nature.

6. Port Arthur Historic Site

Have you ever heard of an open-air museum? That’s the perfect way to describe the site that holds a historical significance in the heart of every Tasman. In the 19th century, this place served as a site where convicts received gruesome treatments. Over 30 buildings are sitting on a landmass of over 40 hectares. Though these buildings are old, the site has been maintained to allow tourists to have a fantastic time.
