While much of world travel is down at the moment, this is the perfect time to start planning for when it starts opening up back again. This means you have all the time to look at destinations, brush up your language skills, and plan on how you’re going to finance your next trip. If you were thinking of going for a while, however, you also have to find ways to sustain yourself while abroad. Thankfully, there are tons of ways that you can do that; you just need to be a bit creative, open your horizons, and find the right resources. Here are a few ways that you can fund long-term travel.

Find a Job

You should consider job opportunities where you will be living. One of the most obvious choices is teaching English or any language that you know. You could go with an agency that will cover some expenses like accommodation, so that’s an added bonus. Some people are even able to build a client base by putting up flyers, though it takes some hustle.

There are also tons of other job options for travelers. You could become an instructor of some sort, like scuba diving for instance. Or you could work in a hostel or any job in the service industry for that matter. Just make sure that you know the legal requirements for working in the countries you’ll be traveling to.

Become an Amazon FBA Seller

For many, Amazon might seem like an intimidating platform. But if you want to learn how to become an Amazon seller in the Covid-19 era, the process is pretty simple.

All you have to do is find valuable goods for sale, open an Amazon account, set up a listing, and ship the items to an Amazon fulfillment center. They will handle the rest for you. The hardest part is finding items you’ll be able to buy low and sell high. If you want to learn how to do this, you can check out this article on how to find products that sell on Amazon.

Find Remote Work

Remote work is one of the best ways to earn some income while traveling. You’ll be location independent, won’t have to worry about work permits, and will be paid in your home currency, which could stretch your dollar depending on where you’re going.

There are tons of ways that you can earn money online. You could work as a writer, English teacher or translator for instance with an online TEFL course, or do some data entry work. There are also tons of positions for virtual assistant work and customer service.

If you’re looking for work, freelancer sites are a great place to start. Some of the most popular include UpWork, Toptal, and SimplyHired. Fiverr is also a good option. Make sure that you sign up with as many services as you can, and work on building a solid reputation.

Do Some Volunteer Work

This could be a great way to not only give back but to travel for free as well. But be warned – you’ll have to do some actual work, and sometimes in very tough conditions. So, don’t go down that route unless you’re actually dedicated to a cause. Also note that some organizations will cover your meals and accommodation, but not the cost of getting there, so be prepared for that.

As you can see, there are tons of ways that you can finance a long-term trip. Make sure that you keep all your options open, and try to find ways to build an income before and during your trip if you want to be independent.
