Playa Grande Resort, Los Cabos: A Relaxed Luxury Escape Steps from It All

There’s something about Los Cabos that keeps drawing me back. The light, the ocean, and the energy all come together here. On my recent stay at Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa, I found a place that captures it all without ever feeling overwhelming.

From the moment I arrived, one thing stood out right away: everything was spotless. The grounds, walkways, and pools were all carefully maintained, which set a great tone for the rest of my stay.

A Location That’s Hard to Beat

Playa Grande’s location is hard to beat. It sits on a beautiful stretch of beach and is just minutes from Cabo San Lucas’ lively marina. The resort offers a rare mix of peaceful retreat and easy access to town.

We walked into town several times during our stay, whether it was for a stroll around the marina, some shopping, or just to enjoy the atmosphere. Being able to do this without needing transportation made a big difference.

Easygoing Days by the Pool

One of the small but meaningful luxuries here? No early-morning scramble to claim a lounge chair.

Unlike many resorts, there was always plenty of space around the pools. Whether we wanted sun or shade, we never felt rushed or pressured—it made the entire experience feel far more relaxed and enjoyable.

With five pools, two Jacuzzis, a poolside bar, fitness center, and even mini golf, the resort delivers all the amenities you’d expect from a high-level Cabo property. The mini golf, in particular, was a fun and unexpected addition—simple, but a great way to unwind.

Why I’d Recommend the All-Inclusive Option

We opted for the all-inclusive package, and it was absolutely the right call.

Not only did it simplify the experience, but it also gave us the freedom to fully enjoy the resort’s dining options without a second thought. And the food? Consistently very good—paired with warm, attentive service across the board.

Where We Ate

  • Calima Restaurant – A standout for Mexican and Spanish-inspired dishes, with fresh local seafood at the heart of the menu.
  • La Taqueria – Casual, vibrant, and perfect for sampling a variety of tacos (with a mezcal in hand, of course).
  • Brigantine Steak House – Our personal favorite. The menu features aged and prime cuts alongside excellent seafood options, making it a must-visit during your stay.

The staff at each restaurant was genuinely wonderful—friendly, professional, and always making the experience feel personal.

The Beach: Raw Beauty at Your Doorstep

The beach at Playa Grande is stunning—wide, sandy, and perfect for long walks, especially in the early morning or as the sun begins to set.

One of the highlights for me was walking toward the base of Mt. Solmar. Here, the landscape shifts dramatically, with rock formations shaped over millions of years by waves and tidal erosion. It’s a powerful reminder of the natural forces that define this coastline—and an unforgettable backdrop.

A Spa Experience Worth Slowing Down For

If relaxation is on your agenda, the spa is well worth the time.

The Essential Head & Feet Massage quickly became a favorite—simple, effective, and incredibly relaxing after a day in the sun.

For something more immersive, the Temazcal Ceremony offers a deeply rooted cultural experience. Taking place in a traditional steam lodge, the ritual incorporates the elements of fire, earth, water, and air. It’s designed to help release stress, reconnect emotionally, and bring a sense of balance. It can be shared as a group experience, and it’s one of those rare activities that stays with you long after your trip ends.

Golf with a View

For golfers, access to Solmar Golf Links is another major highlight.

Located just minutes from Cabo San Lucas, this Greg Norman–designed course delivers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean from nearly every hole, blending rolling dunes with lush green fairways.

The course is an 18-hole, par-72 championship layout stretching over 7,200 yards, offering both a visual spectacle and a rewarding challenge.

Beyond the course itself, there’s a full practice facility, a well-appointed clubhouse perched above the ocean, and thoughtful touches like comfort stations with snacks and beverages throughout your round.

It’s the setting where you lose track of your score because you’re too busy taking in the scenery.

Final Thoughts

Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa delivers exactly what many travelers are looking for in Los Cabos—but with a little more ease and authenticity than you might expect.

It’s clean, comfortable, and incredibly well located. The atmosphere is relaxed rather than rushed, the dining is consistently strong, and the combination of beach, spa, and golf creates a well-rounded experience.

For me, it was the balance that stood out most: a resort that lets you do as much—or as little—as you want, all within walking distance of Cabo’s energy.

And that’s exactly why I’d go back.
