Niagara Falls has long been one of the world’s most iconic natural wonders, but beginning August 29, visitors can experience it in a breathtaking new way. Niagara Takes Flight, a $25 million state-of-the-art flying theatre attraction, officially opens inside Niagara Parks’ flagship Table Rock Centre, perched at the very brink of the Horseshoe Falls.
This first-of-its-kind experience in Ontario (and only the second in Canada after Vancouver) combines cinematic storytelling, cutting-edge drone technology, and immersive special effects to offer visitors a soaring new perspective on Niagara’s beauty, history, and culture.
The Ride Experience
Created with custom-built drones and filmed over six months, Niagara Takes Flight takes guests on an exhilarating 56-kilometre aerial journey across Niagara’s dramatic landscapes. Riders are strapped into gondola-style seating that lifts them high above a massive 180-degree, 17-metre-wide dome screen, giving the sensation of flight with feet dangling into the action.
As the scenery transitions from season to season and day to night, motion programming and sensory effects—wind, mist, even scent—bring the adventure to life. Disney Imagineer Rick Rothschild, one of the creators behind Disney’s legendary Soarin’ Over California, led the creative direction, while Brogent Technologies, global leaders in flying theatre attractions (Chicago, New York, Las Vegas), oversaw construction and development.

More Than Just a Ride: Authentic Storytelling
Before takeoff, visitors are guided through four immersive storytelling rooms that reveal 13,000 years of Niagara’s history. Highlights include:
- The Ancestors Room – where Indigenous artist Sara General (Turtle Clan, Mohawk Nation) brings the creation story of Turtle Island to life through original artwork and animations.
- The Waterfall Room – narrated by James Cameron, the Academy Award-winning filmmaker (Avatar, Titanic, The Terminator) who grew up in Niagara Falls. Cameron reflects on the post-contact history of the Falls and shares personal ties to the destination: “It was a pleasure and honor to lend my voice to a project that celebrates the Falls and the city I grew up in. My first job at the age of 16 was working for the Niagara Parks Commission, so this closed that loop, 55 years later.” – James Cameron
