Apes Hill Barbados, the Caribbean’s rising-star luxury resort-residential golf and lifestyle community, will once again welcome the Staysure Legends Tour from April 24–26, as some of golf’s most celebrated names compete in one of the sport’s most breathtaking settings.
Now in its third consecutive year at Apes Hill, the Barbados Legends hosted by Ian Woosnam continues to elevate its stature on the global golf calendar, bringing together major champions, Ryder Cup stars, and accomplished tour winners in an environment that uniquely blends championship competition with ultra-luxury living, wellbeing, and natural beauty.
Adding to the excitement this year is the Legends Tour debut of 2016 Open Champion Henrik Stenson, one of Europe’s most recognizable and accomplished players of the modern era.
“Henrik’s debut is a wonderful addition to what has quickly become one of the most distinctive and anticipated events on the Legends Tour schedule,” said Sunil Chatrani, Executive Chairman of Apes Hill Barbados. “While his presence brings tremendous prestige, the larger story is the continued rise of Apes Hill as a globally recognized destination where world-class golf, luxury living and exceptional lifestyle experiences converge.”
Stenson, whose decorated career includes six PGA TOUR victories, 11 DP World Tour wins, a FedEx Cup title and Race to Dubai championship, said he is eager to compete in Barbados.
“I haven’t been to Barbados for 20 years, but it’s a beautiful place and the Apes Hill course looks incredible,” said Stenson. “I’m excited to play my first event on the Staysure Legends Tour in such a spectacular setting.”
Hosted by Masters Champion and Apes Hill Ambassador Ian Woosnam, the event underscores the property’s growing international prominence as both a golf destination and an elite lifestyle community.
“From the moment we first brought the Staysure Legends Tour to Apes Hill, the players recognized it as something truly unique,” said Woosnam. “It offers top-level competition in a world-class environment, while showcasing the warmth, hospitality and beauty that make Barbados so special.”
Perched 1,000 feet above sea level, Apes Hill offers sweeping views of both the Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea, cooling trade winds and a championship course that has rapidly become one of the most acclaimed in the region.
The property continues to receive significant international recognition. Recently, Apes Hill was named one of only seven new additions to Golf World’s prestigious Top 100 World Resorts list, and the only Caribbean newcomer. The recognition reflects the resort’s holistic appeal beyond golf, including exceptional accommodations, thoughtful amenities, tropical setting, and wellbeing offerings.
“There is a touch of class about everything at Apes Hill,” said Golf World editor Chris Bertram in announcing the ranking. “The golf course will not disappoint even the most hard-to-please golfer, the accommodations are exceptional, and the amenities are expanding all the time.”
These accolades follow the resort’s Little Apes par-3 course being named “Caribbean’s Best 9-Hole Golf Course” at the 2025 World Golf Awards.
Beyond championship golf, Apes Hill continues to define modern luxury Caribbean living through a curated lifestyle experience that includes:
- morning yoga amid treetop vistas
- tropical nature trails
- floodlit padel and tennis courts
- a newly opened beach club
- farm-to-table culinary experiences
- family-friendly wellness and recreation
Its commitment to environmental stewardship remains central to the community’s identity. Apes Hill is proudly Audubon International certified, with sustainability initiatives including a bioswale system, extensive rainwater catchment reservoir and on-site farm gardens producing fresh fruits and vegetables.
This year’s field also includes defending champion Scott Hend, Open Champion Paul Lawrie, U.S. Open winner Michael Campbell, and numerous Ryder Cup veterans, reinforcing the tournament’s reputation as one of the strongest and most distinctive stops on the Legends Tour.
For amateur players, the event again features The Legends Experience, offering a rare opportunity to compete alongside golf icons in tournament conditions.
At Apes Hill, however, the event represents something even greater: a global showcase of a luxury residential and resort community that continues to redefine golf and lifestyle living in the Caribbean.
