There’s a new address for slowing down, and it sits along the Son River in the shadow of some of the oldest limestone mountains on Earth. Auko Eco-Wellness Lodges opens its doors on 20 July 2026, bringing a fresh vision of regenerative hospitality to the Phong Nha–Ke Bang UNESCO World Heritage Site — home to the planet’s largest cave system, including the almost mythic Son Doong.
For travelers who’ve been chasing quieter, more intentional corners of Southeast Asia, Auko is worth watching.
Built With the Land, Not Against It
Developed by Van Phu Real Estate Development JSC and brought to life by wellness operator Lumina Wellbeing, Auko is rooted in a philosophy the team calls Conservation & Adaptation — essentially, designing in harmony with a landscape that floods, shifts, and breathes with the seasons rather than fighting against it.
That shows up everywhere in the build: elevated bamboo walkways raised above historic flood lines, eco-tented lodges engineered to adapt to seasonal water movement, and structures crafted from renewable bamboo, reclaimed timber, and naturally ventilated materials. The 30 tented lodges are arranged in small clusters tucked beneath indigenous planting, giving the whole property a sense of having grown out of the jungle rather than been dropped into it.
The build quality isn’t just aesthetic, either — Auko is developed in line with the IFC Building Resilience Index and has achieved EDGE Advanced certification, putting real engineering behind the eco-credentials.

Three Ways to Arrive
Auko’s all-inclusive experience is structured around three distinct pathways, each designed for a different kind of traveler:
- The Open Way — the signature, self-guided all-inclusive stay, available year-round for guests who want their days shaped by their own rhythm rather than a fixed itinerary.
- The Wild Way — a curated three-night, four-day adventure-guided program with monthly fixed start dates, launching in Q4 2026.
- The Still Way — an immersive four-night, five-day program led by wellness practitioners, also launching in Q4 2026 with monthly start dates.
Every pathway includes full-board dining at Origin Restaurant, where the menu leans into forest-to-table cooking: wild-foraged herbs, fresh river fish, and the bold, herbaceous flavors of Central Vietnam.
Wellness Drawn From the Land Itself
Auko’s wellness program, curated by Lumina Wellbeing, takes its cues directly from the surrounding environment — indigenous botanicals, mineral-rich waters, and the natural rhythms of the karst landscape. Expect hydrotherapy journeys, sound healing, yoga, primal and somatic movement work, and — fittingly, given the neighborhood — cave meditation. The wellness calendar rotates throughout the year with seasonal ceremonies and visiting practitioners, so no two stays look quite the same.
Signature in-lodge experiences include a wild herb foot bath with reflexology and a 60-minute nature hydro journey that moves guests through healing mud, a forest shower, and a clifftop cool plunge — a nice, tactile summary of what Auko is going for: treatments that feel like extensions of the landscape rather than spa-menu add-ons.
Beyond wellness, the all-inclusive stay covers river boating, jungle trekking, nature-based adventures, yoga and sound healing classes, and what Auko calls “Gatherings” — communal picnics, shared lunches, and seasonal outings designed to build a sense of belonging among guests.

Getting There
Despite its remote, wild setting, Auko is more accessible than it might sound:
- Fly into Dong Hoi Airport from Ho Chi Minh City or Ha Noi, then a 1-hour private transfer to the property
- Fly into Hue Airport from Ho Chi Minh City or Ha Noi, then a 3-hour private transfer
- Take the train to Dong Hoi Railway Station from Da Nang or Ha Noi, followed by a 1-hour transfer
- Drive privately from Da Nang (roughly 5 hours)
- Or, for the more adventurous, ride in on a motorbike tour from Ha Noi, with a halfway stop in Vinh or Cua Lo Beach
The Bigger Picture
Auko joins a growing wave of properties across Southeast Asia positioning conservation-minded design and wellness programming as the main event rather than the marketing gloss. With Son Doong and the wider Phong Nha–Ke Bang cave system as a backdrop, it has genuine natural drama to draw on — and a design approach built to weather it.
Auko Eco-Wellness Lodges is located in the Na Residential Group, Phong Nha Commune, Quang Tri Province, Vietnam. More information is available at aukoways.com.
