Newmark Hotels and Reserves have added a fresh and unique new offering to its growing portfolio of prestigious hotels and private game reserves – with the addition of Future Found Sanctuary, a private wellness retreat nestled on the southern slopes of Cape Town’s iconic Table Mountain.
Future Found Sanctuary consists of two ultra-luxurious stand-alone villas that can be booked exclusively, or by individual room. Maison Noir is a sprawling five-bedroom villa with a signature elemental design aesthetic, filled with bespoke furniture and a respected collection of South African fine art. The villa features a 90-square metre Grand Master Suite, which enjoys magnificent views of Table Mountain, a 72-square metre Master Suite with its own parking, entrance and lavish patio garden, and three 50 square metre Luxury Suites, each with its own loft.
Villa Verte is a four-bedroom architectural masterpiece filled with custom designed furnishings that create a timeless aesthetic emblematic of contemporary South African interiors. The villa features four bedrooms – a 90-square metre Grand Master Suite with superb mountain and treetop views, a 54-square metre Luxury Suite with views of the Hout Bay valley and surrounding mountains, as well as two 37 square metre Luxury Rooms.
Guests who book either of the villas on an exclusive-use basis will have full use of the kitchens and their library of cookbooks, as well as complimentary access to the snack bar and use of any produce from the prolific kitchen gardens. The option exists to also hire a Future Found Sanctuary private chef while in residence.
Both secluded villas enjoy full access to the 6-acre grounds at Future Found Sanctuary, which boasts five spectacular landscaped gardens that allow visitors to learn about the healing benefits of plants, forage for the freshest produce, harvest fresh fruit from a myriad of fruit trees, or simply relax and rejuvenate in one of the many carefully curated meditation spaces spread throughout the estate with views overlooking an amphitheatre of mountains. A wine cellar, movie theatre, 2 heated pools, and a cold water plunge pool add to the experience.
The retreats master horticulturist, Cherise Viljoen, previously worked with Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens for many years and both the Sanctuary’s gardens and Kirstenbosch border the Table Mountain National Park, meaning that the flora and fauna have an uninterrupted fynbos corridor between the two and share many of the same beautiful plant species.
Future Found Sanctuary is Cape Town’s first and only 5 star regenerative travel destination and in keeping with this, offers a range of experiences to complement the luxurious accommodation. These include: personalised and tailored wellness retreats, yoga, hiking in the Table Mountain Nature Reserve, sound healing, Tai Chi, forest bathing (which is an eco-mindfulness practice), personal training, Middle Eastern Rasul (mud treatment therapy), guided meditation, kinesiology, biokineticist assessments, conscious breathwork, and massages. Future Found also features a yoga studio, a four-room Sensorium Spa, heated and natural pools, as well as a fitness centre.
“My team and I are honoured that Future Found Sanctuary has joined our family of distinct properties,” says Neil Markovitz, CEO of Newmark Hotels and Reserves. “Future Found Sanctuary is truly a forward-thinking, innovative and unique destination. From instilling nutrients back into the soil of its gardens, to creating unique experiences that connect their guests to the local community and environments, to supporting South African artisans in its interior design and shop, Future Found Sanctuary is indeed a special retreat.”
Future Found Sanctuary joins a bespoke collection of world-class establishments that are members of the Newmark stable. In December 2022, Newmark launched the new 11,000-hectare Qwabi Private Game Reserve, a UNESCO accredited region, in Limpopo Province. The company has also recently announced a significant presence in the Cape Winelands with the announcement that the group will launch The Hazendal, a new luxury hotel on the Hazendal Wine Estate.
