A New Chapter in Sardinia’s Nature-Led Hospitality

Set along one of Italy’s most unspoiled coastlines, Chia Laguna is entering a new chapter. Reintroduced as Chia Laguna Nature Resort, the iconic Sardinian destination is reaffirming its nature-led philosophy—positioning Southern Sardinia as a place for authentic connection, restoration, and slow Mediterranean living.

The evolution follows a standout moment for the region: in 2025, the Chia coastline in Domus de Maria—home to the resort—was ranked Italy’s Most Beautiful Sea by Legambiente and Touring Club Italiano in their prestigious Il Mare più bello guide. Now, with an official reopening set for 23 April 2026, Chia Laguna invites guests to experience Sardinia through a renewed lens—one shaped by landscape, local culture, and the rhythm of nature itself.

Developed in collaboration with luxury hospitality branding agency JHAGGER&CO, the resort’s transformation strengthens Chia Laguna’s identity while unifying its offering across three distinct properties: Conrad Chia Laguna SardiniaBaia di Chia Resort Sardinia, and The Village at Chia Laguna. Each caters to a different style of traveller, yet all share a deep connection to Southern Sardinia’s protected dunes, lagoons, and coastline.

A Nature-Led Vision Rooted in Place

“Chia has always been a place where nature leads,” says Gioele Carmalinghi, Managing Director of Italian Hospitality Collection. “But 2026 is about expressing that spirit with greater clarity and purpose—through locally built experiences developed with conservation groups and community partners who share our bond with this land.”

That vision is brought to life through four guiding pillars that shape the guest experience.

The Real South Sardinia invites travellers into everyday traditions, from hands-on cooking at Nonna’s Table and shepherd-led cheese demonstrations to golden-hour hikes to ancient Nuraghe sites. A new in-room Travel Journal encourages guests to engage more deeply with local stories, landscapes, and rhythms.

Nature’s Playground focuses on wellbeing through immersion—guided sunrise hikes, rotating Yoga in the Wildsessions, and wildlife photography walks that highlight the lagoons and resident flamingos while promoting respectful interaction with fragile ecosystems.

Joyfully Shared reflects Chia Laguna’s inclusive spirit. With three hotel experiences under one unified vision, the resort welcomes families, couples, and solo travellers alike—offering space for togetherness, adventure, or quiet reconnection.

Adventure Awaits adds a sense of play, from quad-bike routes leading to panoramic lookouts and hidden beaches, to Sip & Sail Sardinia, a skipper-led golden-hour cruise complete with island aperitivi, and adult-only clifftop sunset tastings overlooking the Mediterranean.

Signature Experiences Inspired by Sardinia

Under the guiding philosophy The Rhythm of Nature, Chia Laguna has curated a collection of Signature Experiences designed to reveal the island’s character through food, movement, and creativity.

Highlights include Blue Zone Cucina, a culinary journey inspired by Sardinia’s longevity traditions; Yoga in the Wild, aligning breath with landscape; and Sip & Sail Sardinia, an effortlessly romantic cruise where Vermentino and Cannonau are enjoyed as the sea turns rose-gold at dusk.

Creative and community-driven offerings include Lady Bee, a gelato-by-day, aperitivo-by-night cart inspired by classic Ape vehicles and the resort’s sustainable beekeeping initiative, and Clay & Canvas, where local artists host relaxed plein-air painting and Sardinian ceramics sessions open to all skill levels.

Sustainability, Celebration, and Shared Moments

Sustainability sits at the heart of the resort’s evolution. The Village holds Biosphere Sustainable Certification, while the two Hilton-affiliated properties align with the brand’s global Travel with Purpose ESG strategy. Partnerships with environmental organizations, local producers, and cultural institutions ensure tourism here actively supports the region it celebrates.

Beyond leisure travel, Chia Laguna Nature Resort continues to appeal to corporate groups, weddings, and private celebrations. Its open-air venues and versatile spaces provide a distinctive backdrop for meetings, creative retreats, and destination ceremonies—where meaningful experiences are shared against the raw beauty of Sardinia and the Mediterranean.

As Chia Laguna Nature Resort steps into 2026, it does so with a renewed sense of clarity—offering travellers not just a place to stay, but a deeper way to experience Southern Sardinia.
