This May, Dominica is inviting travelers to trade beach crowds for rainforest trails during HikeFest 2026, a month-long hiking series designed for outdoor enthusiasts, adventure travelers, and nature lovers.

Organized by the Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association (DHTA), HikeFest offers a curated lineup of guided hikes providing access to some of the island’s most remote and lesser-known natural sites, many of which are not typically accessible without local expertise.

Held under the theme “Beyond the Beaten Path,” HikeFest 2026 encourages travelers to experience Dominica’s diverse terrain, from hidden lakes and forest pools to dramatic ridgelines and waterfalls. With options ranging from easy nature walks to full-day treks, the event caters to a wide range of fitness levels, making it an ideal choice for active travelers seeking a more immersive Caribbean escape.

Hikes take place across five Saturdays in May, with additional weekday experiences scheduled for May 14, 18 and 21. The schedule allows visitors to plan long weekends or extended stays, with unique offerings such as early morning hikes and a guided night hike through the rainforest.

Dominica is easily accessible for U.S. travelers, with direct flights from Miami and convenient connections through major Caribbean hubs, as well as ferry service from Guadeloupe, Martinique and Saint Lucia. Accommodations range from eco-lodges and boutique hotels to luxury resorts and secluded rainforest retreats.

“HikeFest gives travelers a reason to choose Dominica in May,” said Marva Williams, CEO of Discover Dominica Authority. “It is about stepping into places you would not normally reach on your own and sharing that experience, whether as a couple, with friends, or as part of a group.”

All hikes are led by experienced local guides, ensuring both safety and deeper insight into the island’s unique ecosystems.

2026 Hike Schedule:

  • May 2 – Boeri Lake (Moderate, 1.5 hours)
  • May 2 – Trinity Lakes (Challenging, 3 hours)
  • May 9 – Chemin Letang Trail (Moderate, 3 hours)
