Get ready to feast! Mark your calendars for August 2–16, 2025, as the Grand Bahama Island Restaurant Fest returns for its fourth year! Under the theme “Authenticity Reimagined: The Authentic Cuisine of Grand Bahama Reimagined Through a Modern Lens,” this hotly anticipated festival invites food enthusiasts from all over to explore the island’s rich yet contemporary culinary scene. This multi-day celebration brings together the island’s top chefs, local food artisans, and culinary fans alike for a one-of-a-kind gastronomic journey through the dynamic Bahamian food landscape.
A Cultural Experience
The GBI Restaurant Fest will also coincide with the start of the 2025/2026 Bahamas lobster season (August 1), and will highlight existing cultural events that will take place during this time, including the weekly Smith’s Point Fish Fry (the oldest fish fry in The Bahamas) and the High Rock Sea Festival, which will take place on the Emancipation Day Holiday (Monday, August 4th).
Savour the Flavours: Prix Fixe Menus & Culinary Events
The festival kicks off with “A Taste of Grand Bahama” at the Port Lucaya Marketplace on August 2, featuring live entertainment, local vendors, and family-friendly activities. Participating restaurants across Grand Bahama Island will offer specially curated prix fixe menus, each presenting an appetizer, a main course, and a dessert at a set price. These specially designed menus aim to provide a comprehensive showcase of the island’s many culinary offerings. This launch event sets the stage for two weeks of mouthwatering tastes and cultural immersion.
Beyond the Plate, Island Adventures Await
While food is the main attraction, the festival also encourages visitors to further experience everything Grand Bahama Island has to offer. Between meals, hop on a guided eco-tour through Lucayan National Park, where you can explore one of the world’s largest underwater cave systems, stroll a mangrove boardwalk, or relax on the postcard-perfect sands. When hunger strikes again, make space to dine at local favourites for elevated island cuisine with a view, renowned favourites with a Bahamian twist, charming seafood and a breezy, Caribbean ambiance.
With direct flights from Toronto and Montreal, reaching Grand Bahama Island is easier than ever for Canadian travellers.
