Heineken Regatta Returns to St. Maarten with Four Days of World Class Sailing and Island Celebrations

St. Maarten is getting ready to welcome sailors and spectators from around the world as the 46th St. Maarten Heineken Regatta takes place March 5 – 8, 2026. The event, the largest regatta in the Caribbean and among the world’s leading warm – water regattas, is expected to once again draw a strong fleet of international competitors.

The regatta attracts over 20,000 visitors annually, including Olympic medalists, world champions, charter crews, live-aboard cruisers, and recreational sailors from more than 37 countries. Racing takes place across multiple classes: Maxis, Performance Multihulls, monohulls, non-spinnaker cruising boats, bareboats, and the relaxed Island Time class. Courses mix windward-leeward and coastal races, giving competitive classes a chance to tackle up to eight races over four days while cruisers enjoy scenic, less demanding routes.

Participation is open to all. Teams can register via YachtScoring, charter a boat through partners like Sunsail or KRAS, or join existing crews via the official crew board. Spectators can get close to the action aboard the Official Spectator Boat, running Saturday, March 7, and Sunday, March 8, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., including breakfast, lunch, and an open bar for US$125.

Often described as “Serious Fun,” the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta is as much about the shared experience as it is about the competition. While the on water competition delivers fast, exciting sailing by day, the energy continues each evening at Heineken Regatta Village in Simpson Bay Lagoon. Open to sailors and non-sailors alike, the Village is the heart of the event’s shoreside festivities, featuring live music, nightly prize – givings, local and international cuisine, and a lively Caribbean atmosphere. The 2026 entertainment lineup will be announced in the coming weeks, following years of memorable performances by regional and international artists.

With thrilling competition on the water and vibrant celebrations ashore, the 46th St. Maarten Heineken Regatta promises an unparalleled experience for sailors, spectators, and visitors alike. Registration, charter options, and spectator tickets are available at https://www.heinekenregatta.com/.

For those planning to extend their stay beyond the regatta, St. Maarten offers an impressive range of resorts perfectly suited to both sailors and spectators. From beachfront luxury properties overlooking Simpson Bay to serene hillside retreats with panoramic views, the island makes an ideal base for combining world-class sailing with relaxation, dining, and island exploration. It’s well worth exploring accommodation options early to secure the perfect stay during one of the Caribbean’s most anticipated events.
