Each year, Terre de Vins Magazine, a media company specializing in wine, wine tourism, and French art de vivre, organizes the Wine Tourism Awards in collaboration with Atout France, the French tourism development agency. The awards honor the best wine tourism initiatives put on by wine and spirits producers in France.
The 2024 winners have just been announced and Hennessy is proud to have won the ‘Best Innovation’ award, a special prize that celebrates the vineyards and Maisons offering wine tourism experiences that truly stand out from the rest of the industry. An official ceremony will take place on April 16th in Beaune, Burgundy, at the newly opened Cité des Climats et Vins de Bourgogne.
The praise follows the successful launch in 2023 of ‘Mobilis’, an immersive virtual reality installation celebrating Maison Hennessy’s time-honoured craftsmanship and history, built in one of its historical cellars in Cognac. Created by French artists Olivier Kuntzel and Florence Deygas, the 19-minute VR experience was inspired by the expressive sketches doodled by founder Richard Hennessy on his blotting paper in 1765. It offers visitors a mesmerizing blend of poetry and cutting-edge technology.
Its development required 2 years of work and the talent of 50 creative contributors, including the engineers at studio Backlight (one of the VR studios with the most awards worldwide, including a Lion at the prestigious Venice Mostra in 2022), composer Jonathan Fitoussi, Hennessy coopers, calligraphers, a set designer, sound effect engineer and acoustician.
