High Arctic Expedition: Where Art Meets Land by Adventure Canada

In the Canadian High Arctic, art and tradition are inseparable. In celebration of that – and to mark the 100th anniversary of revered Group of Seven artist A.Y. Jackson and Dr. Frederick Banting’s (the Nobel Prize-winning scientist and accomplished amateur artist) 1927 Arctic journey aboard the SS Beothic – Adventure Canada, in partnership with the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, has unveiled this brand-new 2027 expedition that invites travellers to trace the spirit of some of Canada’s most visionary artists and experience the northern landscapes that transformed their work and profoundly influenced Canadian art and identity. Over the course of 15 days, guests will sail through some of the same places that once stirred Jackson, Banting, and later Lawren Harris, as they travel from Qausuittuq (Resolute), Nunavut to Nuuk, Greenland. Along the way, you will have the opportunity meet with Inuit artists and community members whose creative traditions illuminate the Arctic as a vibrant homeland, rich with art, culture, and memory stretching back millennia.
