Travel Michigan has released its latest Pure Michigan video, “I Am Detroit Summer,” which serves as a visual homage to the soul of what makes Detroit an iconic global destination.
The video features acclaimed Detroit poet jessica Care moore as she illuminates what makes her hometown a compelling place to explore. The Detroit Riverfront serves as the heartbeat of the video, connecting Detroiters’ love for the water with the essence of summer. Icons of the Motor City like Eastern Market, Campus Martius Park, Livernois Avenue of Fashion and restaurant culture are prominently displayed. So are summertime staples such as cruising the riverfront in a classic car, playing hopscotch on the sidewalk and even cracking open an ice-cold Vernors’ ginger ale.
“Detroit is the place to be, whether you’re a lifelong resident or a visitor from around the world,” Visit Detroit CEO & President Claude Molinari said. “Travel Michigan and MMGY Global did a remarkable job capturing the essence of what makes Detroit special, the creativity of our people moving through our dynamic and vibrant streets.”
jessica Care moore’s narration beautifully articulates why visitors should want to visit Southeast Michigan. Detroit is the only UNESCO City of Design in the United States and one of only 43 in the world, the home of Motown and techno music, and the global leader in sustainable mobility innovation.
“The energy and authenticity of Detroit are at the heart of the Pure Michigan experience,” said Dave Lorenz, Vice President of Travel Michigan, part of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. “We are thrilled to partner with Detroit native jessica Care moore to inspire travelers to ‘Keep It Fresh’ this summer by visiting Detroit to experience all that this great American city has to offer.”
Visitors to Detroit can find all the highlights from Pure Michigan’s video on Visit Detroit’s newly released website, as well as dozens of other events that “keep it fresh, keep it moving, make it a Detroit summer,” as jessica Care moore says about Motor City summers in the video.
