The Greek island of Milos has long been one of the Cyclades’ best-kept secrets. Known for its dramatic volcanic landscapes, colorful fishing villages, crystal-clear waters, and spectacular rock formations, the island has quietly become a favorite among travelers seeking a more authentic alternative to some of Greece’s busier destinations.
Now, Milos welcomes a new chapter in luxury hospitality with the opening of Eréma, an all-suite retreat from Empiria Group and a member of Design Hotels. Perched on Cape Chalaka along the island’s southeastern coastline, the 41-suite property has been thoughtfully designed to reflect the island’s unique geology, natural light, and relaxed pace of life.
Inspired by the Landscape
Rather than imposing itself on the landscape, Eréma was designed to become part of it.
Created by Aristides Dallas Architects in collaboration with Micromega Architecture & Strategies, with interiors by Athens-based studio ID Laboratorium, the resort draws inspiration from Milos’ volcanic terrain. Curved architectural lines mirror the contours of the island, while volcanic stone, natural marble, warm woods, and earthy neutral tones create interiors that feel calm, organic, and unmistakably Cycladic.
Sunlight plays an important role throughout the property, shifting the atmosphere from sunrise to sunset as it filters through the carefully designed spaces.
Many of the furnishings were custom-made by local artisans, further strengthening the connection between the hotel and the island’s rich craftsmanship.
Every Stay Includes a Private Pool
Eréma offers an intimate collection of just 41 suites, each designed to maximize privacy while taking full advantage of sweeping views across the Aegean Sea.
Every suite features its own private swimming pool, spacious outdoor terrace, and generous indoor living areas that blur the line between inside and outside living. Whether choosing a romantic one-bedroom suite or a larger two-bedroom retreat for families and friends, guests are surrounded by uninterrupted sea views and a sense of peaceful seclusion.
The result is a style of accommodation that encourages guests to slow down, unplug, and fully embrace island life.

A Commitment to Sustainable Design
Beyond its striking architecture, Eréma has also been designed with sustainability in mind.
The property is pursuing LEED Gold certification through the use of energy-efficient building systems, responsible material sourcing, native landscaping, and water conservation initiatives. These efforts help preserve the natural beauty of Milos while minimizing the hotel’s environmental footprint.
Guests can also explore the island’s creative spirit through the on-site boutique from Anthologist, the Athens-based design brand known for showcasing contemporary Greek craftsmanship, textiles, home décor, and artisan-made objects inspired by local culture.
A Culinary Journey Through the Cyclades
Dining plays a central role in the Eréma experience under the direction of acclaimed Greek chef Yiannis Kioroglou, whose culinary philosophy celebrates traditional Cycladic cuisine with a contemporary touch.
The resort’s signature restaurants highlight the flavors of the Aegean using locally sourced ingredients and seasonal produce.
At Halaka, guests can enjoy breakfast and all-day dining overlooking the infinity pool, with dishes inspired by Milos’ culinary traditions. Menu highlights include Cycladic salads featuring local cheeses and capers, ladenia—the island’s traditional tomato flatbread—and handmade local pasta prepared with regional ingredients.
As the sun begins to set, Akiton offers an elegant evening dining experience featuring dishes such as grilled Milos manouri cheese, seafood specialties, and creative interpretations of classic Greek recipes. Adjacent to the restaurant, Akiton Bar serves handcrafted cocktails featuring regional ingredients, while the open-air Circe Bar provides a relaxed setting for light bites, refreshing cocktails, and fresh smoothies throughout the day.
Wellness Inspired by the Island
The island’s volcanic heritage also shapes Eréma’s wellness program.
At Elios Spa, natural light and mineral-inspired design create a tranquil atmosphere for relaxation. The spa offers a selection of massages, facials, body treatments, and wellness rituals that incorporate locally inspired ingredients alongside premium skincare products.
Among its signature experiences is the Eréma Earth and Light ritual, a treatment that combines mineral-rich therapies, gua sha facial techniques, and restorative massage inspired by the natural elements that define Milos.
Outside the spa, guests can unwind beside the resort’s expansive infinity pool overlooking the Aegean or maintain their fitness routines in the hotel’s fully equipped wellness center.
Discover the Best of Milos
While Eréma offers plenty of reasons to stay put, the island itself remains one of its greatest attractions.
Guests can embark on boat excursions to the famous white volcanic cliffs of Kleftiko, accessible only by sea, or visit the otherworldly white rock formations of Sarakiniko, one of Greece’s most photographed landscapes.
The hotel also arranges guided hikes across Milos’ volcanic terrain, private geological tours, cultural visits to the charming capital of Plaka, explorations of the colorful fishing village of Klima, and hands-on experiences such as traditional cooking classes and woodcarving workshops inside a centuries-old Cycladic home.
Families traveling with children can also take advantage of the resort’s Kinship program, which introduces younger guests to the island’s culture, history, and traditions through engaging, family-friendly activities.

A New Luxury Landmark in the Cyclades
As Milos continues to attract travelers searching for authentic Greek island experiences, Eréma offers a sophisticated new option that embraces the destination rather than competing with it.
With architecture rooted in the island’s volcanic landscape, exceptional dining inspired by local traditions, thoughtful wellness experiences, and a deep respect for sustainability, the new all-suite retreat captures the quiet beauty that has made Milos one of Greece’s most compelling destinations.
For travelers looking to experience the Cyclades beyond the familiar, Eréma provides an elegant gateway to one of the Aegean’s most captivating islands.
