On The Cycling House’s new Mallorca Tranquilo tour, explore the breathtaking Mediterranean backdrop of a magical Spanish island by bike at a more relaxed pace. With the quaint town of Alaró as a base, set out on daily rides through the countryside, along the coast, over the mountains and even around a velodrome track, stopping at villages and beaches along the way to enjoy espresso, pastries, picnic lunches and swimming in the sea.
“Mallorca has been used as a training destination for professional cycling teams for years, but it isn’t just for the top riders,” said Owen Gue, Owner of The Cycling House. “This year, we’re introducing a more relaxed cycling experience on the rugged Spanish island. While it has fewer miles and less climbing than our traditional tour there, Mallorca Tranquilo still offers an abundance of mountain views, seascapes and Spanish culture.”
The Mallorca Tranquilo tour is based at The Petit Hotel Alaró, away from popular tourist spots.
After settling in, explore the Cami D’Muro, a small road that’s been turned into the main bike route across the island, stopping for coffee, pastries and a spin around the velodrome in Sineu. Climb over the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, then descend to Pollenca and finish with lunch and a swim on the beach at Cala Sant Vicenc. Pedal the undulating terrain of the island’s eastern coast to its southernmost point on the longest ride of the trip, looking across the sea to uninhabited Cabrera Island. Spend a shorter day on the way to Randa with an optional climb to the monastery perched 1,000 feet above town, then have lunch at the Cycling Planet bike shop café back in Alaró. Finish along the island’s western coast with dramatic views that contrast the blue sea and green mountains, ending at Sant Elm.
Along the way, enjoy the Mediterranean’s temperate climate, Mallorcan food and wine, European influences and spectacular views.
The tour includes transfers to the hotel in Alaró, accommodations, meals, a wine tasting at a local vineyard, bike build and breakdown, professional guides, van support, ride nutrition and high-quality ride photos.
