Six Senses Kanuhura

Debut of Female Wellness Programming
Six Senses Kanuhura is now offering new Female Wellness programs with a focus on perimenopause, menopause, and holistic female well-being. These 3-, 5- or 7-day Female Wellness journeys are designed to empower women with the insights and tools to keep their hormones and metabolism balanced through times of transition and during their monthly cycle. Guided by the Six Senses mission to help guests reconnect with themselves, others, and the world around them, Female Wellness programs are an invitation to women to tune into what their body is telling them against the stunning backdrop of Six Senses Kanuhura.
“Mindful Stargazing” Noctourism Wellness
New to Six Senses Kanuhura is an immersive “Mindful Stargazing” experience, designed to blend the wonders of the night sky with the calming practice of mindfulness meditation. The experience begins with stargazing, where telescopes are pre-set in optimal locations for viewing celestial objects. The instructor introduces various stars, planets, and other astronomical phenomena, providing brief descriptions to enhance understanding and appreciation.
Following the stargazing, participants transition into moonlight meditation and, to deepen the experience, the session incorporates the resonant sounds of a singing bowl. The session concludes with a closing reflection, allowing participants to share insights or feelings experienced during the meditation.
Debut of Local Artisans
Additionally, Six Senses Kanuhura is supporting the local artist community by providing a dedicated space on-property for a renowned Maldivian artisan, Ibrahim Solih. Ibrahim’s workshop, known as Haruge (meaning “workshop” in Divehi), is a creative hub melding sustainability and craftsmanship. Ibrahim transforms waste and upcycled materials into stunning works of art including ingenious coconut shell ice cream cups to exquisite ornaments, jewelry, and souvenirs crafted from coconut shells, wood scraps, building materials, broken furniture, metal, glass, and plastic. Guests are invited to check out Ibrahim’s artistry in action, participate in select workshops, and take home a sustainably crafted keepsake.

Surf’s Up Adventures
Many travelers are unaware that, while known for SCUBA and snorkeling, The Maldives also is an ideal location for surfing, with the Laamu Atoll providing some of the best Maldivian surf breaks. With surf season recently kicked off, and exclusive breaks for all skill levels, Six Senses Laamu offers a unique surf holiday blending board action with the art of island relaxation. Guests can cruise the beginner-friendly Shoulders or ride the majestic Yin Yangs right-hander with expert guides from TropicSurf. For beginners, Six Senses Laamu is offering a “Lean to Surf” experience including three one-on-one lessons, daily breakfast and dinner for two, and a 60-minute post-swells rejuvenating massage at the award-winning Six Senses Spa for two people per stay.
Six Senses Laamu is celebrating the two-year anniversary of its Sea Hub of Environmental Learning in Laamu (SHELL), a 2,336 square-foot (217 square-meter) immersive exhibition space invites resort guests, hosts, and Maldivian residents to explore and learn about the colorful and vibrant local marine life. Investing further in marine conservation, the SHELL houses a working marine laboratory run by the Maldives Underwater Initiative (MUI), a collaborative endeavor featuring marine biologists from Six Senses Laamu, working hand in hand with three partnering NGOs: Manta Trust, Blue Marine Foundation, and Olive Ridley Project. Currently, the research team comprises over 9 marine biologists. Since its inception, the SHELL has directly contributed to extensive sustainability efforts including having grown over 770 baby corals from over five different species, releasing 8.8 million coral larvae onto the resort’s house reef and, overseeing over 670 resident Maldivian sea turtles and spearheading a turtle genetics project to directly contribute to a better understanding of the Maldivian sea turtle population, and protecting over 10 million square feet of seagrass meadows.
