Some cruise lines offer all-inclusive options

An all-inclusive cruise is a package that covers the majority of your expenses while on vacation aboard a cruise ship. It typically includes the cost of your accommodations (cabins and suites), a basic selection of alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, and bottled water; some meals at select restaurants; gratuities; Wi-Fi access; and various onboard activities. Depending on the cruise line, other amenities may also be included, including specialty dining, access to premium amenities and services, and certain shore excursions.

Some cruise lines offer all-inclusive options as part of special booking promotions or a la carte add-ons. These tend to be higher in price and offer a more comprehensive experience than their standard fare offerings. For example, Scenic Luxury Cruises has a variety of all-inclusive options that include a full onboard butler, unlimited dining and cocktails, in-suite mini bar refreshed daily, all tips and gratuities, specific spa treatments, transportation to and from the ship, onboard enrichment experiences led by destination and subject matter experts, and much more.

Other cruise lines offer all-inclusive cruises packages as the standard fare. These usually cover most or all of the same things as an all-inclusive cruise, but with a slightly lower overall price. The difference in cost between a standard cruise fare and an all-inclusive one can often be less than the cost of one meal, so it’s definitely worth considering these for budget-minded travelers.

Of course, some cruise lines have all-inclusive perks without even using the term “all-inclusive”. This is typically true of more premium-priced sailings and it is a great way to save money while still enjoying a luxurious vacation at sea. For instance, Oceania offers a pre-cruise purchase that bundles a number of popular add-ons into one single discounted rate. The Oceania CLASS package covers a beverage package for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, gratuities, and some meals at the line’s gourmet restaurants.

In the more affordable segment of the market, Virgin Voyages and some other upscale cruise lines include all-inclusive options in the base fare. They also offer the option to upgrade to a more comprehensive package at a discounted price before you sail.

Luxury-focused cruise lines like Regent and many river cruise lines offer all-inclusive options. They typically cover the basics, such as accommodations and most meals at select restaurants, plus gratuities, service charges, and a few included activities and shore excursions. This is a great way to relax, enjoy the beautiful scenery and destinations on your cruise and not worry about any extra fees at the end of the trip. Of course, these cruise lines will still charge you for some of the more expensive items, such as top-shelf spirits and spa treatments, but they provide a more transparent price up front. This is a big selling point for many cruisers.

All Inclusive Cruises

For many cruisers, an all-inclusive experience may be worth the extra upfront fee. These packages cover a cruiser’s entire stay with an array of perks that can include everything from meals and drinks to onboard activities and more.

Luxury lines like Crystal, Silversea and Cunard offer a truly all inclusive experience with drinks, gratuities, laundry service, premium alcohol, specialty dining, room service and more included in their fares. Other options include the upscale line Oceania.
