South Eastern Ontario is excited to announce the launch of its NEW Waterway Adventure Guides, six new digital resources designed to inspire travellers to explore the region’s stunning waterfronts along Lake Ontario, the Rideau Canal Waterway, and other lakes and rivers in South Eastern Ontario.
This self-guided “adventure trail” is less about following a set route and more about offering a comprehensive guide to the region’s waterways, highlighting the best experiences in each destination. From scenic locks and lock towns, to boat tours, kayaking and watersports outfitters, waterfront parks and beaches, and waterfront dining destinations, the guides provide a curated look at South Eastern Ontario’s vibrant water-based tourism offerings.
Visitors will also gain insights into the region’s rich Indigenous and non-Indigenous history, along with sites of particular interest for LGBTQ+ travellers, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive exploration experience.
The guides cover six key regions:
- Kingston
- Cornwall & SDG Counties
- Bay of Quinte
- 1000 Islands Rideau Canal Waterways
- 1000 Islands Gananoque
- Brockville
Each regional guide includes an introduction and historical profile, recommended boat tours, watersports outfitters, waterfront parks, beaches, waterfront dining, and other seasonal activities. The guides are available on dedicated landing pages in English and French, featuring high-quality visuals and maps with direct links for easy navigation.
Developed in partnership with Ottawa Road Trips, the Waterway Adventure Trail promotes a new self-guided route highlighting the region’s waterfront attractions, including locks, boat tours, watersports, beaches, and waterfront dining.
