A ROYAL RETREAT

Formerly the summer residence of the Royal Family of Bavaria, Nymphenburg Palace is perhaps the finest example of classical Baroque architecture in Germany. To experience a flavour of the royal lifestyle enhanced by the luxurious touches of Kempinski hospitality, travellers can spend the night at the Nymphenburg Palace Royal Residence, a stately four-bedroom villa located within the palace grounds.

Inside the 836-sqm (8,998-sqft) residence, four bedrooms, seven bathrooms, three living rooms and a banquet-sized dining room are decorated with objets d’art from the nearby Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory, as well as artworks from British artists Damien Hirst and Nick Knight. Equipped with a full-sized kitchen and wine cellar, the Royal Residence has everything guests need for intimate family gatherings, while the private garden and majolica-tiled terrace is the perfect spot for summer soirées for up to 100 guests.

Other regal benefits for guests of the Nymphenburg Palace Royal Residence include the use of a chauffeur-driven limousine throughout each stay, round-trip airport transfers, 24/7 butler service and a daily breakfast fit for kings and queens.

HISTORIC HIDEAWAYS

Art, fashion and history come together at Hotel Taschenbergpalais Kempinski Dresden, a gift from Augustus the Strong to his mistress in 1705. Berlin-based interior designer Markus Hilzinger sought inspiration from the hotel’s history to infuse the 380-sqm (4,090-sqft) Royal Suite with regal splendour and contemporary comforts. The stately abode is adorned with Parquet de Versailles oak flooring and hand-knotted carpets, with artworks by Venetian artist Bernardo Bellotto reproduced in collaboration with the Dresden State Art Collection.

Checking into the 185-sqm (1,991-sqft) Royal Suite at Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin is reserved for the privileged few. The master bedroom reveals close-up views of the Brandenburg Gate and Pariser Platz in the historic heart of Berlin; private meetings or intimate dinners can be held in the cherry red study; and the entire suite meets the high levels of security required by heads of state and VIP guests, who also enjoy limousine transfers and 24-hour butler service.

Once the home of Ottoman Sultans, Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul houses a collection of historic suites. The 458-sqm (4,929-sqft) Sultan Suite is the most opulent, with marble columns, decorative fireplaces and replicas of artworks by 19th-century Italian artist Fausto Zonaro. As well as a personal butler who welcomes guests with a time-honoured fragrance and soap ritual, guests are treated to the use of a chauffeur-driven 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and the best Bosphorus views in Istanbul.

Poised on the clifftops of Nusa Dua, The Apurva Kempinski Bali is a tribute to the architecture and craftsmanship of the Majapahit empire. The blend of imperial residence, architectural traditions and tropical ambience finds its apogee in the Nusantara Presidential Villa, a 1,379-sqm (14,843-sqft) three-bedroom hideaway on a private beach complete with an 18-metre swimming pool. Steps from the Apurva Chapel, the villa was built to entertain, with an abundance of indoor-outdoor space suitable for wedding receptions or private parties.

All year round, the Penthouse Suite at Kempinski Hotel Das Tirol provides front-row seats to the majestic landscape of Austria’s Kitzbühel Alps from cosy wood-panelled interiors and three vast outdoor terraces. A case study in contemporary Alpine luxury, this five-bedroom suite occupies the entire seventh floor of the hotel, with a fully equipped kitchen and 1,020 sqm (10,979 sqft) of indoor-outdoor space, making it the largest hotel suite in Austria.

Modern Turkish design meets Mediterranean lifestyle at Kempinski Hotel The Dome Belek, where a collection of three-bedroom Sultan Villas overlooks the resort’s PGA Sultan Golf Course. With space for up to six guests, the 467-sqm (5,026-sqft) villas are set in lush gardens with private swimming pools that can be heated in the winter and a covered lounge and dining area that makes indoor-outdoor living feasible all year round. A personal butler is also on hand to mix sundowners, book a beach cabana or make restaurant reservations.
