Visit Baja California Sur is excited to unveil its 2025 Surf Guide, featuring three premier coastal destinations where surf enthusiasts can catch some of Mexico’s most thrilling waves: La Paz, Comondú, and Mulegé. The 2025 guide highlights Baja California Sur’s often rustic and remote surf spots celebrated by locals and adventurous surfers for their pristine waves and unspoiled beauty.

Featuring detailed insights on where to stay, when to visit, and how to access these thrilling wave havens, the guide blends expert tips with local knowledge. The ultimate Surf Guide will be available in early 2025 on the Visit Baja California Sur website, social media platforms, and in print at state tourism offices.

“Visit Baja California Sur is thrilled to present this Surf Guide to act as an essential resource for avid surfers and inquisitive travelers,” stated Sandra Félix, Visit Baja California Sur Commercial Director. “As interest in our region continues to grow, this guide should make accessing the state’s renowned but secluded surf spots easier than ever. Surfing, an age-old sport that continues to grow in popularity, perfectly captures the essence of Baja California Sur, blending adventure, simplicity, and a deep connection to nature. With ideal conditions for wave riding, our region invites both visitors and locals to explore and enjoy its unique natural treasures, offering an authentic experience that reflects the spirit of the destination.”

Travelers seeking city comforts and entertainment can fly to La Paz, the state capital, and head west to the charming pueblo mágico of Todos Santos, the closest city to Pacific Ocean surf hubs like Punta Conejo and Playa Los Cerritos for convenient “day surfing.” These local sand-bottom beaches are perfect for beginners and intermediates, while more secluded areas cater to seasoned surfers. For a more nostalgic experience, Comondú and Mulegé preserve the allure of the golden era of Mexican surfing from the 1970s. With only a few scattered gas stations, rugged roads, and options for beachfront camping or local bed & breakfasts, these regions maintain their appeal of privacy and untouched beauty.

Easily accessible from the U.S. with direct and seasonal flights to Loreto, La Paz, and Los Cabos, travelers can rent a car and drive the scenic Mexican Highway 1 winding through desert landscape with towering cacti and imposing mountain ranges. These destinations entice with surprising wave opportunities for every budget and skill level, as well as welcoming fishing villages, surf-friendly towns, and local fresh seafood. Beyond world-class surfing, the southernmost California peninsula boasts thrilling water activities, nature encounters, and historical richness spanning from missions to cave paintings waiting to be discovered.
