Western Australia has kicked off 2024 with numerous exciting events, new experiences and culinary offerings including Australia’s longest EV highway which is set to launch later this year, a new experience hosted by Swan River Seaplanes where travelers can experience the magenta-coloured Hutt Lagoon from the air, and the highly anticipated WWE Elimination Chamber will once again put Perth on the world stage. Events
- In an exclusive, globally televised Premium Live Event, WWE Superstars are set to come to Perth in February 2024 for the WWE Elimination Chamber. This will be a WA first and the only WWE Premium Live Event to be held in Australia Asia Region in 2024. Hosting WWE will once again put Western Australia on the world stage, with the brand’s WWE Superstars showcasing their experiences throughout Perth and surrounds to their collective social media audience of more than one billion followers.
- The annual Ord Valley Muster will once again light up the Kimberley in 2024 with dazzling performances from some of Australia’s top artists. The Screaming Jets, Rogue Traders, Sarah McLeod and Bob Evans will all take to the stage at the Nexus Airlines Kimberley Moon Experience on May 18. Held in the town of Kununurra, the eastern gateway to the other-worldly wonders of the Kimberley region, the iconic nine-day festival will occur from May 17 to 25. The program also features traditional dance, performance and art from Waringarri Aboriginal Arts, storytelling led by local Miriwoong Elder David Newry, comedy shows, local cruises, art shows, unique dining experiences, and the mustering rodeo.
New Experiences
- For eco-conscious road trippers, Australia’s longest EV highway is set to launch in 2024. When complete, the WA EV Network will include 98 new electric vehicle fast charging stations and back-up chargers at 49 different locations. The charging stations will connect Perth and regional WA.
- Perth’s Swan River Seaplanes has released a luxury seaplane tour departing from the iconic Swan River (Derbal Yerrigan), flying over the bubble gum pink hues of Hutt Lagoon to the marine wonders of the Houtman Abrolhos Islands
- Trek the wonders of the World Heritage-listed Ningaloo Marine Park (Nyinggulu) on a five-day adventure tour with Off The Beaten Track starting in June 2024. Based in Exmouth, the tour includes swimming with gentle whale sharks, sea-kayaking, hiking Yardie Creek and Mandu Mandu Gorge, and trekking the Badjirrajirra Walk through Charles Knife Canyon in Cape Range National Park
- Set above-ground at the site of the historic Ngilgi Cave, the Ancient Lands Experience takes visitors on a journey to discover 600 million years of stories associated with the Margaret River Region and its people. The new $3.6 million attraction officially opened in November 2023, and offers a series of interactive installations woven throughout the natural bushland, paying homage to the landscape and the 60,000-year custodianship of the Wadandi people. Visitors seeking a deeper cultural experience can explore Wadandi country with traditional custodian Josh Whiteland from Koomal Dreaming at a new purpose-built Meeting Place.
- Busselton Jetty has installed 13 underwater sculptures to create a sculpture trail and artificial reef at the end of the 1.8-kilometre icon. This submerged experience is for divers, swimmers and snorkelers, with special signage and maps provided for the underwater journey, while the sculptures create new habitat for local marine wildlife.
Culinary:
- Perth’s favorite island destination and home to the native Quokka, Rottnest Island (Wadjemup), will be the host location for a unique Australian culinary experience. Taking place in March 2024, A Table Somewhere: Wadjemup | Rottnest Island will offer an immersive dining experience unlike any culinary event ever staged on the island, with a menu curated by culinary icon Matt Moran and celebrated West Australian chef Brendan Pratt. The much-anticipated event will take place on March 22 and 23 and is an ode to showcasing WA produce, Rottnest’s natural environment and abundant native ingredients.
- One of the Margaret River Region’s favorite wineries Swings & Roundabouts has opened its giant timber doors to reveal a stylish new cellar door at its Yallingup venue. Located in a dedicated tasting room, the new cellar door provides guests with an improved wine-tasting experience for both wine lovers and the wine curious.
