This January, guests can immerse themselves in Geneva’s rich art and culture scene, located in the heart of the city. With internationally recognised art fairs taking place throughout the month of January, as well as a range of specially curated galleries available for perusal, guests can discover Europe’s leading city break destination with Geneva Tourism.  

Explore the installations lighting up the city…  

From 17 January until 02 February 2025, Geneva is transformed with the Geneva Lux Festival, encouraging guests to explore the unique installations in and around the city. Inviting visitors to reflect and dream, the Geneva Lux Festival installations use projections, sculptures, and lighting effects to address key themes such as ecology, diversity, and hope as well as exploring the relationship between people and nature.  

Each year, a select number of leading artists are invited to curate the bespoke installations which are crafted with sustainability at the forefront of their design, including harnessing energy from the surrounding environment or relying on public participation to generate power. Perfect for all ages, this dazzling experience will be sure to light up the dark winter months and delight spectators old and new.   

Enjoy Art Genève showcasing international contemporary and modern art… 

The 13th edition of Art Genève will bring together over 80 galleries which specialise in modern and contemporary art, over four days from 30 January to 02 February 2025. Showcasing at Palexpo Geneva, Art Genève carefully selects artists from varying backgrounds with diverse experience, providing a space to showcase their unique approaches to their work with a range of mediums from painting to video art. Cementing its position on the international art calendar, the fair remains popular for its intimate atmosphere, where Swiss institutions, art centres, foundations, and museums enrich the exhibition circuit with projects specially designed for Art Genève.

After a day of exploring the international art events across the city, guests can soak up the destinations rich culture and historic art by Vélo Taxi with Welo – a unique tour showcasing the best of the city’s galleries and museums – all free to enter with the Geneva City Pass. With the opportunity to tailor tours to personal preferences, visitors can enjoy everything from the Ariana Museum; showcasing a diverse ceramic collection spanning twelve centuries, to the Musée Rath; Switzerland’s first fine arts museum. For those looking to discover new cultures, the Barbier-Mueüller Museum is the largest private collection of art originating from Africa, Oceania, Asia and various ancient civilisations, whereas the Baur Foundation of Far Eastern Art, is one of the most important collections of its nature currently open to the public. 

Guests can explore more of Geneva’s varied and unique art scene this January, with the Geneva City Pass. Available for 24, 48, or 72 hours, the pass offers free or discounted access to over 55 attractions, galleries, and museums all accessible by free public transport.
