Norrøna Canvas Telemark, the world’s first hotel designed specifically for mountain bikers, has opened bookings for its 2026 season. Located in the remote Norwegian highlands, the off-grid oasis has unveiled a curated calendar of skill-oriented festivals, culinary takeovers, and a new yoga retreat running from May through September.
A signature experience from Norrøna Adventure, Canvas Telemark offers adventure-seekers a rare blend of world-class technical terrain, luxury off-grid yurt living, and a refined take on friluftsliv – the Norwegian philosophy of life in the great outdoors.
“After a winter recharge, we’re ready to welcome guests back to our wilderness hotel,” says Jørgen Jørgensen, CEO of Norrøna. “Canvas is more than a destination – it’s the intentional combination of trails that challenge you, people who inspire you, incredible cuisine, and the wilderness luxury that ties it all together. This season, we have expanded our theme weekend and festival lineup to ensure every guest finds their own pace in the heart of Telemark.”
The Canvas Experience: Off-Grid Luxury Meets World-Class Adventure
Located in an isolated wilderness 7km from the nearest village, Canvas is accessible only by a 2km trek or guided transfer. The camp delivers the ultimate off-grid experience, pairing luxurious Kyrgyz-style yurts with transparent roof domes designed for midnight stargazing.
Designed as a sanctuary for both adventure and disconnection, the camp provides doorstep access to 120 kilometers of world-class slickrock trails and the quietude of a camp where the only distractions are the elements. Here, days spent on the trails transition into evenings at the wilderness spa’s wood-fired saunas and outdoor tubs. Post-recovery, guests gather for communal fireside dining featuring seasonal, locally-produced ingredients cooked over open flames.
“Canvas is about stripping away the distractions of modern life,” says Jørgen. “Whether you’re stargazing from your bed or sharing stories by the fire, it’s the combination of challenging trails and raw wilderness luxury that creates such a powerful reset.”
2026 Season Highlights & Theme Weekends
The 2026 calendar features a curated series of themed weekends, retreats, and festivals designed to deepen the connection between elite performance and the natural world. The season begins with Opening Weekend (May 1–3), inviting guests to be the first to hit the region’s famous slickrock slabs. Following the kickoff, the Spring/Summer lineup includes:
- Yoga Retreat with Vibeke Klemetsen (May 8–10): A newly introduced restorative weekend of yoga and breathwork led by the founder of Run & Relax. Beyond the mat, guests can customize their stay with “mini-adventures” including guided mountain biking, trail running, hiking, or meditation sessions.
- Norrøna x Specialized MTB Festival (May 14–16): An exclusive mountain biking weekend focused on skill mastery and community. Join athlete ambassadors for technical clinics and guided rides, alongside Specialized bike demos and gear testing.
- Experience Canvas Your Way (July): Available only in July, these dedicated weekends are perfect for guests looking to explore the Telemark wilderness at their own pace, whether via guided trail rides, hiking, trail running, or relaxing camplife.
- Norrøna x Nnormal Trail Running Festival (Aug 5–7): A deep immersion into the world of trail running. Led by athlete ambassadors, this community-focused event blends technical clinics and expert-led runs with gear testing, nutrition talks, and yoga sessions.
- Culinary & Wine Weekend (Aug 21–23): A guest chef will lead an unforgettable gastronomic residency, using traditional wood-fired ovens to showcase local Norwegian ingredients.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming guests back for another unforgettable season,” adds Thomas Svendsen, Hotel Manager at Norrøna Canvas. “Our goal is to make the remote wilderness feel like home by elevating the simple pleasures – from a cup of freshly ground coffee on the yurt doorstep every morning to a pre-warmed sauna waiting for the return from the trails.”
New for 2026, guests at Canvas will have access to the latest GoPro cameras to document their rides. During festivals, exclusive workshops will be available to help riders master POV filming and content creation, ensuring their wilderness memories are captured in high-definition.

“For nearly 100 years Norrøna has been dedicated to crafting the gear that protects you in the wild. Now, by combining our heritage with GoPro’s innovative camera technology, we are giving our guests the tools to preserve those spectacular moments forever and share the spirit of friluftsliv with the world,” concludes Jørgen Jørgensen.
Whether a mountain biker or trail runner seeking world-class trails, a nature-lover looking for peace and quiet unlike anywhere else, or a team looking for a corporate wilderness retreat, Canvas invites all to experience its unique, raw, and natural beauty in remote Norway.
