A Valley Made for Visiting | February Happenings in Skagit Valley

“In February, the air is crisp, the swans are here, the eagles are fishing, and the arts scene is thriving. Visitors to Skagit Valley can soak it all up in one spot,” said Skagit Tourism Bureau CEO Kristen Keltz. “This month we have medieval faires, live theater, gallery walks, and some of the best wildlife viewing in the Pacific Northwest.”

THINGS TO DO

PAC NW Valentine’s Craft Fair (February 17) | Shop handmade gifts from local artisans at the Skagit County Fairgrounds. Find one-of-a-kind treasures made by valley creators.

Arts & Culture All Month Long | Local galleries showcase valley talent during La Conner’s Art Under the Stars every second Saturday and Anacortes’ First Friday Artwalk. The historic Lincoln Theatre, Concrete Theatre, and Anacortes Community Theatre keep stages alive with performances, and McIntyre Hall presents Oklahoma! this month. Check the events calendar for showtimes and gallery hours.

Ursulwyck Medieval Faire (February 28) | Travel back in time at the Skagit County Fairgrounds. Medieval magic meets Pacific Northwest charm in this unique event featuring period vendors, entertainment, and activities that transport visitors to another era entirely.

Trumpeter Swan Viewing | Skagit Valley is one of the best places in the world to view Trumpeter Swans in winter. These graceful birds are symbols of love and partnership, making February the perfect time to experience them. The Skagit Land Trust hosts swan viewing events at Barney Lake in Mount Vernon, where visitors can watch swans take flight. Other prime viewing spots include Fir Island, Skagit Wildlife Area, and DeBay’s Slough. Swans are most active in early morning and late afternoon, found in wetlands, agricultural fields, and near channels of water.

Bald Eagle Viewing | The Upper Skagit River remains a gathering place for bald eagles through February. The Skagit River Bald Eagle Interpretive Center in Rockport provides opportunities to learn about these majestic birds, the surrounding watershed, and the natural and cultural history that defines the area.

Skagit Valley Bird Show (February 7-15) | Organized by the Anacortes Arts Festival, this exhibition features artwork with bird subjects by Puget Sound artists. It’s a chance to see the valley’s incredible birding season interpreted through creative eyes.
