Hôtel Crillon le Brave to Reopen this Spring Following Transformative Refurbishment

Perched high above the vineyards of the Vaucluse, facing Mont Ventoux, Hôtel Crillon le Brave begins a new chapter as it reopens its doors on 3rd April. True to the Maisons Pariente spirit, the new season introduces thoughtful architectural evolutions and immersive experiences that remain true to the property’s original DNA, offering a way to experience Provence that is intimate, sensory, and deeply intentional.

A Transformation Rooted in Heritage

The renovation of Crillon le Brave follows an approach that respects both the historic Provençal architecture and the intimate spirit of the place, as originally envisioned by architect and designer Charles Zana. Three additional historic houses have been carefully restored, bringing the estate to twelve and introducing nine new rooms, thoughtfully designed to accommodate larger groups and families. Extending the village organically behind the existing structures, they unveil new perspectives on the Dentelles de Montmirail.

The new rooms extend the aesthetic language established by Charles Zana, combining a contemporary approach with a soft, distinctly Provençal sensibility. A palette of ochre and sage sets the tone, while restrained architecture and time-worn materials allow the surrounding landscape to take precedence. Antique terracotta tiles sourced across Southern France and Italy meet reworked local stone, while textiles and wall coverings by Antoinette Poisson and Colfax & Fowler add depth and nuance. Furnishings strike a balanced interplay between vintage finds sourced by co-founders Leslie Kouhana and Kimberley Cohen Pariente, and more contemporary elements, including custom rugs and bespoke pieces such as ceramic bedside tables crafted in Beaujolais and wooden end-of-bed benches.

Introducing New Experiences

Alongside the expansion of its accommodation, the hotel introduces a series of new shared areas and wellness spaces designed to deepen the experience of the village itself; a project led by architect Margaux Perrin, a longtime collaborator of Charles Zana andPierre Yovanovitch. The intention was to safeguard the architectural integrity of the historic houses while extending the ways in which guests inhabit and gather within the village.

Among the new additions, Maison Tilleul emerges as a shared kitchen and experiential space conceived as a convivial gathering point. Beneath a domed floral fresco, the room combines extensive custom woodwork with bespoke furnishings, anchored by a large wooden table created with Studio Mo-Mo that accommodates up to fourteen guests. A ceramic credenza from Beaujolais, inspired by the Palais des Papes in nearby Avignon, introduces subtle floral and medieval motifs. Open year-round, Maison Tilleul is envisioned as a true living space, hosting culinary workshops, wellness retreats, and a range of activities for children.

Extended Wellness Offerings

The hotel’s iconic Spa des Écuries, set within the vaulted 18th-century stone stables, has been entirely reimagined as part of a renewed wellness journey where the mineral environment is in dialogue with the historic architecture. Spanning nearly 200 sqm, it now features a comprehensive wet spa with a hammam, sauna, jacuzzi, and cold baths. Treatments continue in partnership with TataHarper, now complemented by Maison Caulièresk, renowned for its plant-based formulations, and SeeMyCosmetics, recognized for its advanced, tailor-made protocols blending Korean expertise with beauty tech.

Marking a new chapter in its holistic philosophy, the hotel partners with dietitian-nutritionist and naturopath Claire Borwin to introduce a series of one- and two-day retreats, offered throughout the season and open to outside guests. Rooted in natural rhythms, these experiences create a quiet dialogue between body, mind, and nature, bringing together gentle practices, culinary workshops, moments of stillness, and sensory rituals in harmony with the pace of the place. Set below, a second heated swimming pool, reserved exclusively for adults, completes the experience, offering a tranquil setting dedicated to uninterrupted relaxation throughout the season.
