
Portable power stations have become increasingly useful travel companions, particularly for campers, RV travelers and anyone spending time beyond the reach of a conventional electrical outlet. Jackery’s latest model aims to extend that usefulness beyond the campsite by combining a portable 1-kWh battery with an expandable system designed for longer outages and more demanding equipment.
The new Jackery HomePower 1000 Plus V2 has a base capacity of 1,024 watt-hours, 1,800 watts of continuous AC output and a 3,600-watt surge rating. It weighs 23.8 pounds and can be expanded with optional battery packs to provide as much as 11 kWh of stored energy.
That combination makes it suitable for several different situations, including camping, RV travel, outdoor work, emergency communications and short-term backup power at home.
Portable Power for Camping and Road Trips
For travelers, the HomePower 1000 Plus V2 occupies a useful middle ground. It provides considerably more energy than a small power bank while remaining compact enough to carry between a vehicle, campsite, cabin or vacation property.
Its 1,024-Wh base battery can support common camping equipment such as portable refrigerators, lights, laptops, cameras, communication devices and selected small appliances. Actual runtimes will depend on the power required by each device, inverter losses, temperature and whether several items are operating simultaneously.
Four pure sine-wave AC outlets allow the unit to power equipment that would normally plug into a household wall socket. Pure sine-wave output is particularly valuable for sensitive electronics, including laptops, camera equipment and audio gear.
The power station also includes a 140W USB-C Power Delivery port for larger laptops and compatible electronics, a second 30W USB-C port, an 18W USB-A connection and a 12V automotive-style outlet.
For photographers, filmmakers and content creators working in remote locations, those connections could support cameras, monitors, laptops, LED lighting and battery chargers without the sound or exhaust produced by a gasoline generator.
Enough Output for Larger Appliances and Tools
With 1,800 watts of continuous output, the HomePower 1000 Plus V2 can operate many household devices, kitchen appliances and portable power tools. Its 3,600-watt surge capacity helps accommodate the brief increase in power some appliances require when their motors or compressors start.
This does not mean it can power everything in a home. High-demand 240-volt appliances, central air-conditioning systems and some electric heating equipment are beyond the intended scope of a portable 120-volt unit.

Several Ways to Recharge
The HomePower 1000 Plus V2 supports charging from a household AC outlet, compatible solar panels and a vehicle-based DC source.
Jackery says standard AC charging can restore the battery to 80 percent in approximately 36 minutes. Faster charging modes can bring it from empty to full in about 50 minutes under suitable conditions.
Dual DC inputs support up to 400 watts of solar charging. Under ideal sunlight, Jackery estimates that a full solar charge can take approximately two hours and 43 minutes. Solar panels are optional unless purchased as part of a bundle, and real charging time will vary with panel placement, weather, temperature and the intensity of the sun.
For road trips and RV travel, DC-to-DC alternator charging offers another way to replenish the battery while driving, although the appropriate equipment and installation may be required.
The ability to combine portable storage with solar charging is especially useful for multi-day trips. Instead of beginning with a fixed amount of energy, travelers may be able to replace some of what they consume each day.

Fast Backup for Essential Electronics
The unit includes an uninterruptible power supply function with a stated transfer time of 10 milliseconds or less.
When connected equipment is plugged into the power station and utility power fails, the system can switch to its internal battery quickly enough to keep many routers, desktop computers and other electronics operating without a restart.
That capability can be useful at home, in a vacation rental or at a temporary workspace. It may help preserve an internet connection during a brief outage, protect an active computer session or keep selected refrigeration equipment running.
Jackery also includes surge protection intended to help protect connected electronics from voltage spikes.
As with any portable backup battery, the unit should be used according to the manufacturer’s instructions. It should not be connected directly to household wiring or a breaker panel without approved equipment and installation by a qualified professional.
App-Based Monitoring and Load Prioritization
The Jackery mobile app provides information about battery status, energy input and current power consumption.
Users can also prioritize connected loads. If the remaining battery becomes low, the system can disconnect lower-priority outputs while reserving power for an essential device such as a refrigerator, router or communications equipment.
A Time-of-Use mode allows the system to charge during selected off-peak periods and store energy for times when electricity rates are higher. The value of this feature depends on the local utility’s rate structure, and the relatively modest base capacity means it should not be considered a substitute for a permanently installed home-energy system.
For travelers, app monitoring can be helpful when estimating whether there is enough energy remaining to run a portable refrigerator overnight or whether solar charging is keeping pace with daily consumption.
LiFePO4 Battery Designed for Long-Term Use
The HomePower 1000 Plus V2 uses lithium iron phosphate, or LiFePO4, battery chemistry. Jackery rates the battery to retain at least 70 percent of its original capacity after 6,000 charging cycles.
The company also uses a cell-to-body construction method that integrates the battery cells with the chassis, helping keep the unit relatively compact. It measures approximately 12.4 by 7.9 by 9.2 inches.
At 23.8 pounds, it is portable enough for many people to carry with one hand, although its weight will still be noticeable when moving it over uneven ground or between distant campsites.
The system supports charging at temperatures as low as 14°F (-10°C), making it more practical for cold-weather trips. Like other battery power stations, however, it should be kept dry, protected from extreme heat and stored according to the manufacturer’s recommendations.
