It continues to operate under the same name and remains part of Marriott Bonvoy, with Marriott International identified as its management company. While its proximity to the terminal is still one of its biggest advantages, the property is designed to feel more like a small independent hotel than a conventional overnight stop.
A Hotel Inspired by Kerala’s Trading History
Port Muziris takes its name from the ancient port of Muziris, which connected the Malabar Coast with merchants from the Mediterranean, the Middle East and Asia. That story gives the hotel a stronger sense of place than travellers might expect beside a major airport.
Local artwork and Kerala-influenced design appear throughout the property, while the guest rooms combine regional details with contemporary comforts. Rather than reproducing a historic building, the hotel uses the Muziris story as a creative reference point.
Travellers interested in exploring that history more deeply can visit sites associated with the Muziris Heritage Project, a large conservation initiative extending between North Paravur and Kodungallur. The project encompasses museums, archaeological sites, places of worship and historic waterways connected to the region’s long history of trade and cultural exchange.

The hotel currently has three food-and-beverage venues.
Lilas Kitchen is the main restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner around the clock. Its menu brings together Malabar-influenced cooking with Indian, regional and international dishes, making it useful for guests arriving at unusual hours.
The Muze is the hotel’s rooftop pool bar, offering drinks, casual food and views across Nedumbassery. The Kettle is a more informal coffee-house concept focused on tea, coffee and light bites. Kochi is one of India’s most rewarding food cities, however, and travellers staying more than one night should still make time to eat beyond the hotel. Port Muziris sits on VIP Road in Nedumbassery, directly opposite Cochin International Airport. Marriott lists the airport as approximately one kilometre from the hotel, and a complimentary airport shuttle is available with advance reservations.
That makes the property particularly practical for late arrivals, early departures, business trips and short Kerala stopovers. It can also be a useful starting point for exploring destinations north and northeast of the city.
The hotel is not, however, in the historic heart of Kochi. Fort Kochi, Mattancherry and the waterfront attractions most first-time visitors associate with the destination are a substantial drive away, with travel times affected by traffic. Travellers planning several days of sightseeing in Fort Kochi may prefer to spend most of their trip closer to the old city, using Port Muziris for the first or final night.
This distinction is important. Port Muziris is best understood as a boutique airport hotel with strong regional character, not as a walkable base for central Kochi.

Port Muziris Today
Years after its debut, Port Muziris remains part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio rather than having moved to another hotel company. Its leadership structure has evolved, including the 2026 appointment of Sachin Malhotra as multi-property general manager for Port Muziris, Courtyard by Marriott Kochi Airport and Kochi Marriott Hotel, but the property’s brand affiliation and management remain with Marriott.
The better reason to revisit the hotel is that the original opening announcement no longer tells travellers what they need to know. Today, Port Muziris is most appealing as a compact, design-led airport hotel: close to the terminal, connected to Kerala through its art and interiors, and equipped with enough dining and leisure options to make an overnight stop feel like part of the trip.
