Il Borro, the five-star Relais & Chateaux member in the Upper Valdarno owned by Ferruccio Ferragamo and strongly committed to environmental protection, announces the opening of the Aie del Borro. The 18 new suites join the estate’s existing accommodation in two traditional Tuscan villas – the Dimora Storica and Villa Casetta – and 38 exquisitely elegant suites within the medieval village, giving a total capacity of 146 guests.
Housed in restored farm buildings dating back to the days of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany, the Aie are elegant constructions which encapsulate the true spirit of Il Borro. La Leopoldina and the three adjacent houses – Il Forte, La Posta and La Fonte– have been redeveloped with contemporary flair, thanks to a genuine and meticulous architectural project to protect and valorise the landscape. Local craftspeople were employed to finish and furnish the suites, further highlighting Il Borro’s ongoing quest for excellence.
Immersed in the green countryside among mulberries, oaks, lavender hedges, wild roses and geometric gardens of aromatic herbs, the Aie del Borro are perfect for families or groups of friends seeking a holiday in close contact with nature and devoted to wellness and sport.A stone’s throw away, guests can enjoy golf, tennis and an outdoor swimming pool.
There are four types of accommodation available – Superior Rooms, Deluxe Suites, Luxury Suites and Family Suites – all warm, comfortable spaces, exquisitely furnished down to the smallest detail.
The rooms are light-filled and spacious – ranging from 25 to 75 square metres – and furnished in natural colours reminiscent of the typical shades of the Tuscany landscape. The gorgeous materials used include wood, terracotta and travertine, contributing to the creation of an atmosphere that combines elegance with the allure of nature. Every suite is embellished with beautiful furniture made by local artisans, and all offer breathtaking views over the surrounding countryside and the enchantment of an almost surreal silence.
The Aie del Borro suites cost between 670 and 1,445 euros per night depending on type; this includes breakfast, served in the Osteria del Borro.
Very close to the Aie, guests will find a large open-air swimming pool, a tennis court and a golf course, the paddock with its horses and the new Vincafé, the ideal place to enjoy a delicious light lunch or a fabulous aperitif at sunset.
Guests can also make use of all the services offered at Il Borro, which can be reached in a few minutes on foot or by the internal transfer service. There are two restaurants: Osteria del Borro and Il Borro Tuscan Bistro, headed by Executive Chef Andrea Campani; the La Corte Spa; the “Vino & Arte” gallery and the Boutique, with unique items of clothing, design and furniture. In the heart of the medieval village are the workshops of the artisans: custodians of traditions handed down through the generations, whose doors and ancient know-how are open to our guests.
