Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club Launches Caribbean’s First Chief Water Officer Role to Champion Sustainable Water Stewardship

Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club has announced the launch of the Caribbean’s first Chief Water Officerrole, an innovative leadership position designed to advance responsible water stewardship and sustainable hospitality practices. The new role highlights the resort’s commitment to protecting Anguilla’s limited freshwater resources while enhancing the guest experience through thoughtful environmental initiatives.

Aurora Anguilla’s initiative positions the resort as the first major property on the island to eliminate single-use plastic waterbottles, underscoring its broader commitment to environmental stewardship and responsible tourism. From its advanced reverse osmosis desalination plant to its hydroponic farm, where fresh produce is grown using water-based systems, the resort has thoughtfully integrated water-conscious practices throughout the property. Set along a sweeping stretch of beachfront, Aurora has intentionally designed its guest experience around understanding, protecting, and celebrating one of the Caribbean’s most vital natural resources: water.

Aurora Anguilla’s General Manager, Sean Robertson, will serve as the resort’s inaugural Chief Water Officer, overseeing the property’s water management strategy and sustainability efforts.

“Water is fundamental to hospitality, especially on an island like Anguilla where freshwater resources are limited,” said Robertson. “Our goal is to ensure that every drop is managed responsibly. By investing in desalination technology and eliminating plastic water bottles, we’re protecting Anguilla’s freshwater resources while providing our guests with the highest standards of safety, quality, and sustainability.”

The appointment coincides with the launch of Aurora Anguilla’s comprehensive water sustainability initiative, which eliminates single-use plastic water bottles across the property while introducing responsible water sourcing and guest education programs.

To support the initiative, each guest now receives an Aurora-branded reusable water bottle upon arrival, encouraging refill rather than disposable consumption. Hydration stations located throughout the resort allow guests to refill their bottles conveniently during their stay. Additionally, glass bottles filled with desalinated drinking water are placed in guest rooms and public areas, ensuring consistent access to safe drinking water while reinforcing the resort’s commitment to eliminating unnecessary plastic waste.

As Chief Water Officer, Robertson will also help lead guest education initiatives designed to raise awareness around waterconservation and responsible resource management. The program reinforces Aurora Anguilla’s belief that luxury hospitality and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.
