Burton to Premiere MY TURN Video Interview Series

Burton is excited to announce the release of the latest “MY TURN” season of video interviews. The season’s MY TURN series will feature five stories from the Burton community, hosted and produced by action sports legend and luminary Selema Masekela.

Inspired by each rider’s unique track in the snow, MY TURN goes beyond traditional action clips and snowboard movies to bring in-depth sideways perspectives to a wide viewership. These are the stories of people that ride, and the impact they have on the sport of snowboarding.

MY TURN host Selema Masekela is an internationally loved television host, sports commentator, actor and musician. Equally at home in front of the camera as on a board of any kind, Masekela has covered snowboarding for decades at the highest levels of the sport, and he’s helped line up a strong roster for this season’s MY TURN.

MY TURN’s five episodes include athletes and stories from around the world. Dima Luchkin is a 13-year- old Ukrainian snowboarding prodigy living with his family in Innsbruck, Austria as refugees of the war that’s torn apart his home. Liu Jiayu took home China’s first Olympic snowboarding medal—a highlight of her unlikely journey through snowboarding that began with a kung fu background. Reto Gurtner, the president of LAAX resort in Switzerland, is progressing sustainability standards for resorts around the globe. Zeb Powell, the people’s favorite freestyle champion, is leading a transformation of what the future of the sport looks like. At the Burton’s Culture Shifters event, Masekela hosts a conversation on how to make the snowboarding community more diverse and inclusive.

“It’s an honor to collaborate with Burton to use the unique lens of snowboarding to tell these powerful human stories from around the world,” said Selema Masekela. Each episode connects the audience to people, places and spaces in a way that showcases the truly transformative power of standing sideways and simply sliding down a mountain.”

From a 13-year-old Ukrainian refugee to the most unpredictably awesome rider the world has ever seen, and an exploration of building a more inclusive snowboarding community, Burton is proud to share the new season of MY TURN. Tune in September 29th to catch the latest stories that are reshaping the sport and culture of snowboarding.
