Catalonia and Barcelona are ready to welcome again visitors from the USA, now that travel is possible once again since Spain opened its borders on June 7 to vaccinated Americans.
The tourism industry from Catalonia is quickly recovering from the coronavirus crisis, and most of the attractions, accommodations and restaurants are already back at work or planning to reopen again in the coming weeks. In Barcelona, for example, 85% of the city’s cultural facilities are already open to the public
The Sagrada Família church in Barcelona reopened back to the public on May 29 after being closed for 7 months and almost 5.000 people visited the Basilica on its opening weekend.

Catalonia is the favorite destination of Americans visiting Spain, attracting 46% of all traffic to the country. In 2019, 1.5M visitors from the USA arrived in Catalonia, consolidating a strong growth trend that started five years earlier.
In the last few months, the Catalan Tourist Board has intensified its promotional activities in the USA, focusing on reaching out to the travel trade and keeping them updated about the destination. The latest round of webinars about Catalonia attracted over 500 advisors who can now consider themselves “specialists in Catalonia”.
