New Orleans may have just wrapped up its legendary annual Mardi Gras festival, but that’s not the only party in town. In fact, New Orleans is hosting an entire year of festivals in 2018 to commemorate its 300th birthday.
Luxury Gold® invites guests to join in the revelry on the 14-day ‘The Sumptuous Soul of America’ itinerary, a sensual journey through the American heartland. Two of life’s greatest pleasures – music and food – are at the forefront of this trip, which culminates in vibrant New Orleans and includes stops in Chicago, St. Louis, Louisville, Nashville, and Memphis.
The itinerary starts in Chicago, the “great American city,” where guests view the city’s architectural gems during a 90-minute river cruise before enjoying a meal at a classic Chicago-style chophouse. In Louisville, guests imbibe on Kentucky’s signature spirit at a bourbon distillery before visiting the famed Churchill Downs and Kentucky Derby Museum. Then it’s time to attend at a live taping of America’s longest-running live radio program at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. In Memphis, guests pay homage to “the king of rock and roll” at Graceland, and are treated to an exclusive dinner with George Klein, a close childhood friend of Elvis who shares stories of the late musical legend.
Once in New Orleans, guests explore the city’s quirky neighborhoods, historic cemeteries and famous landmarks with a Local Expert, and learn about life in the bayou during a scenic boat ride. They’ll enjoy exquisitely prepared Creole cuisine during a cooking demonstration at the New Orleans School of Cooking, and feast at the world-famous Arnaud’s Restaurant, a century-old spot specializing in classic Creole food, oysters and lively jazz music.
“Luxury Gold is immensely excited to our offer guests the ultimate journey through the southern states during New Orleans’ 300th birthday,” said Phil Cappelli, president of Luxury Gold. “On this incredible itinerary, they will experience the best of the south in terms of cuisine, music, culture, and spirits.”
