Velaa Private Island, the renowned Maldivian resort that represents the region’s pinnacle of luxury, unveils its immersive Easter programming and reimagines bespoke family travel experiences by transforming into a real-life fairytale for guests of all ages. From March 28 through April 6, Lord Farquaad, Princess Fiona, Donkey and even Shrek himself will roam the resort, as the tropical island becomes the first to transfigure into Far Far Away and bring the Lordship of Duloc and Shrek’s swamp into existence with colorful decorations and festive costumes.

The island’s Easter moments feature a comprehensive list of complimentary activities and supplemental add-ons designed to ensure every moment is meaningful. Children will have the chance to revel in their imaginations as the property’s team of experienced child carers at the resort’s Lha Velaa Kids Club hosts a variety of different Shrek-themed activities including a neon Shrek-themed swamp party with a playlist filled with fairytale classics. Adding to the magic, dynamic magician Daniel Fernandez will share enchanting card tricks and embark on mind-reading feats on Easter Sunday.
Additional weeklong activities, thoughtfully curated to reimagine luxury multi-generational travel, range from metabolic boosting workouts, friendly beach volleyball and a large golf tournament, to spa and wellness treatments like body contouring sessions, yogi-led breathwork and detox massages, as well as gastronomic delights like an Easter-inspired six-course caviar and egg tasting and chocolate master class.
For parents looking for a challenge, the Velaa Golf Academy by renowned golfer Olazábal will host a weeklong Easter Golf Tournament, with an exclusive Velaa Golf Academy golf bag grand prize. For those looking for rejuvenation, accomplished yoga and fitness trainer Yogi Lakshmi will lead group sessions throughout the week, and Dr. Robin Sharma, who holds a Masters of Physiotherapy and 15 years of clinical experience, will be available for private osteopathy consultations.
The entire family will delight in the vast array of culinary celebrations, culminating in an Easter Sunday Gala Dinner.
