Leading eSIM and travel SIM provider Sim Local has announced that they will offer 20 per cent off eSIM packages for students who find themselves abroad on results day this August.
eSIMs are an easy, cost-effective travel connectivity solution, allowing people to travel abroad whilst staying connected, without having to buy a physical sim card or pay expensive roaming charges on domestic networks.
Although UCAS recommend students being home close to their school, as well as having access to the internet and a phone, that is not possible for some students that find themselves abroad during this period.
It is possible to have exam results picked up by someone nominated, but many choose to get their results by phone and online. Things then can become a little more complicated if a student is unable to get on the course of their choosing and go through Clearing.
To help, Sim Local are offering discounts to students that need to access results to make sure nothing important is missed. This plan includes 50GB of data, which doubles to 100GB if activated before October 9th and can be used in multiple countries across Europe.
Denise Dunne, Chief Digital Officer at Sim Local, said: “Most of us know how stressful exam results day is and being abroad just amplifies that feeling of being out of control.
“We thought it would be a helpful scheme to offer students the ability to feel in control of the situation, no matter where they find themselves, without adding a big expense on to their well-deserved break.
“All that work to then have administrative issues punish you happens every year and is very cruel. Travel shouldn’t punish your future. We hope this offers peace of mind to many trying to make the most of their summer before their next big step.”
Any students receiving results or taking an early holiday as part of a gap year just need to enter the discount code GAPYEAR.
Unlike other eSIM suppliers, Sim Local packages include minutes to make regular phone calls, which are still a favourite of universities and students as they prevent the often painful response time of an email.
It is important to be able to access these platforms, research contact details for the universities, and be able to call them directly as the Clearing system often moves very quickly.
Around 275,000 will receive A level results on August 15th in England alone, whilst Scottish students receive their SQA results on August 9th.
