Stay: La Demeure de Maussane (Bedrooms: 8 / Capacity: 16)
La Demeure de Maussane is located near Les Baux-de-Provence, in the countryside on the outskirts of the small village of Maussane-les-Alpilles. This beautifully restored Maison de Maître dating from the early 18th century is set in large French gardens with a vast heated pool. It is a house of real character renovated by renowned architects who have mixed authenticity and modernity perfectly.
Originally the property was an oil mill built in 1738 on a field of more than 300 olive trees at the foot of the Massif des Alpilles. Over the generations, the property has become a luxury residence with gardens built around large plane trees, basins and fountains, imposing reception rooms on both the ground and first floors and 8 large bedrooms that can comfortably accommodate up to 16 people in an exceptional setting and style. The villa decor is dominated by warm hues reminiscent of earth and stone. The owners have also created a vegetable garden where guests can pick their vegetables at will and a henhouse to have fresh eggs every day.
Week Three: Monte Carlo, Monaco
Monte Carlo is a gem set along Monaco’s coast. Renowned for its world-class casinos, lively nightlife and picture-perfect Mediterranean scenery, Monte Carlo is synonymous with sophistication and excitement, attracting visitors from around the globe.
Stay: Villa Malla (Bedrooms: 6 / Capacity: 12)
Villa Malla is a perfect example of the type of property that helped make, at the turn of the 19th century, the French Riviera the place to go to for the privileged few. Located near Cap d’Ail and Mala Plage, this belle epoque mansion is just a 15 minute walk from Monaco along the coastal path. Relax in the heated infinity pool, unwind in the lavish interiors adorned with designer furnishings, or enjoy a chilled glass of champagne on the expansive terrace overlooking the sea.
Recently fully restored, the three-storey Villa Malla has been lovingly renovated so as to reflect the magnificence of years gone by with a more contemporary finish. A majestic high ceiling marble entrance hall with modern glass staircase offers an interesting stylistic contrast leading to rooms that lead to the upper and lower floors. A large double reception room opens onto a large sea facing terrace. The mansion has six bedrooms with one master and five bathrooms, all of which are generous in size, resulting in a feeling of absolute luxury, achieved through stylish contemporary interiors (Italian marble is a major feature in the lobby) and solid wood flooring throughout.
