Heritage Expeditions Announces Wildlife Photography Workshops with Award-winning Photographer Rachel Bigsby

Small-ship expedition cruise company Heritage Expeditions is excited to announce its partnership with Nikon ambassador and multi-award-winning seabird photographer, Rachel Bigsby, offering her exclusive, small group wildlife photography workshops on two of its Subantarctic Islands voyages in 2025.

The family-owned and operated cruise company’s Commercial Director and Expedition Leader Aaron Russ said Bigsby’s wildlife photography workshops, limited to just 8 photographers per voyage, on board flagship Heritage Adventurer provided guests with an incredible opportunity to travel with, and learn from, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year‘s Natural Artistry winner and Bird Photographer of the Year’s Portfolio winner.

“Rachel is an accomplished and incredible talent beyond her years and a tenacious, self-taught trailblazer. Her genuine passion for nature is evident in both her incredible work, which not only beautifully captures the natural world, but also informs and educates on its importance,” said Aaron.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Rachel on board and share her artistic vision and relentless dedication to photography and the natural world with our guests, while exploring some of the world’s most remote and photogenic destinations in Heritage Expeditions authentic expedition cruise style.”

Bigsby, a longtime admirer of Heritage Expeditions and its conservation-driven voyages, described the partnership with Heritage Expeditions as “a dream come true”.

“I’m so happy to partner with Heritage Expeditions to offer wildlife photography workshops for these incredible voyages. As a seabird photographer, this is truly a dream come true – the opportunity to explore some of the world’s most remote and pristine environments, where seabirds and wildlife thrive with an organisation whose values align with my own,” she said.

“I’m excited to share my passion with likeminded individuals, guiding them to capture not just images, but the unique stories and fleeting moments that make these expeditions so special. Being able to help others create photographs they’ll treasure for a lifetime is an honour, and I can’t wait to embark on this journey together.”

Bigsby will be joining Heritage Expeditions Birding Down Under (6 – 22 December 2025) and Beyond Fiordland (21 December 2025 – 1 January 2026) voyages as a guest photographer. While Bigsby will provide some lectures and photography advice to all guests, those joining her wildlife photography workshops will also take part in a dedicated series of presentations and interactive sessions on board Heritage Adventurer as well as guided excursions out in the field to experience once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to capture rare wildlife in some of the world’s most remote locations.
