Luxury Redefined: Hotel Cala di Volpe & Cervo Hotel Reopen in Sardinia

Defining the Standard for Luxury Sardinia Resorts

While there are many Sardinia resorts to choose from, few capture the soul of the island like these two icons. As the crown jewels of Costa Smeralda hotels, Hotel Cala di Volpe and Cervo Hotel offer more than just a place to stay—they provide an immersive gateway into the Mediterranean lifestyle. Whether you are arriving for the world-class golf, the “Blue Zone” culinary scene, or simply the legendary emerald waters, these properties remain the definitive choice for travelers seeking the pinnacle of Italian hospitality.

The iconic Hotel Cala di Volpe, along with beloved Cervo Hotel,  have both now officially reopened doors to guests marking the anticipated return of summer season, timeless elegance and the breathtaking views of Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda. Together, Hotel Cala di Volpe and Cervo Hotel serve as the benchmark for luxury hospitality on the Costa Smeralda. Furthermore, it has never been easier to get to Costa Smeralda than now, thanks to Delta’s new direct flights from JFK to Olbia starting May 20.

Cervo Hotel

Hotel Cala di Volpe, managed by Marriott International on behalf of Smeralda Holding—a company indirectly controlled by the Qatar Investment Authority—along with the Pevero Golf Club and several bars and restaurants, is once again welcoming guests in anticipation of an increasingly longer season on the Costa Smeralda, which will extend well into late fall.

Designed in the 1960s by renowned architect and sculptor Jacques Couëlle, Hotel Cala di Volpe recently underwent a major renovation project led by French architects Bruno Moinard and Claire Bétaille of 4BI & Associés. The renovation successfully harmonized tradition and innovation, combining kaleidoscopic walls of glass, wood, and decorative plaster with refined details such as silky terracotta and fabrics that enhance the spaces.

The 121 rooms and suites carefully renovated—some redesigned by the Italian firm Dordoni Architetti—enhance the hotel’s original charm, blending extraordinary design with the highest level of comfort for an unparalleled experience.

Hotel Cala di Volpe

Among the accommodation options, the Harrods Suite stands out as a true gem of the property. Designed by Harrods Interior Design Studio, it consists of three independent suites, each with a private bathroom and spacious living areas, as well as a wine cellar and a marble bar, all integrated with modern technology. On the upper floor, a private terrace with an infinity pool offers breathtaking views over the Bay of Cala di Volpe.

For food lovers, the hotel offers a culinary journey of excellence, such as the award-winning restaurant Le Grand, which provides a refined experience in a timeless setting.

The experience continues with aperitifs on the panoramic terrace of the Atrium Bar and with the Mediterranean flavors of the restaurant at the Pevero Golf Club, which was recently awarded “Best Wine List” at the third edition of the Champagne Perrier-Jouët Golf Restaurant Awards.

Wellness, on the other hand, finds its ultimate expression in the Shiseido Spa, a serene sanctuary where time seems to slow down and every detail is designed to foster relaxation. Here, rituals inspired by Japanese tradition blend with cutting-edge innovation, creating holistic treatments that guide guests toward a profound sense of balance and harmony. Surrounded by soothing design elements, it is a perfect retreat for harmonizing and rejuvenating mind and body.

Pevero Golf Club

There is also a wide range of sports and leisure activities: indoor and outdoor fitness areas, water sports, state-of-the-art tennis and padel courts, as well as the prestigious Mouratoglou Academy. The experience is completed by the renowned Pevero Golf Club, the only golf course in the destination and designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones. The golf course offers an 18-hole layout set in a landscape of rare beauty: amidst unique rock formations, natural lakes, and the scents of the Mediterranean scrub, every round becomes an unforgettable experience. With its 6,107 meters, par 72, and the challenges of the mistral wind, the course tests even the most experienced golfers, while offering excellent facilities and attentive, friendly service in an exclusive and refined setting.

SARDINIA IN THE SPRINGTIME. Spring, moreover, is one of the most enchanting times to experience Sardinia: mild temperatures, natural light, and a more relaxed pace help authentically define the destination’s identity. It is the ideal season to explore the sea in its most authentic form, with boat excursions to discover breathtaking scenery, including the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park; to hike along trails immersed in nature, such as the Pevero Health Trail; to taste local wines in the region’s wineries; and to immerse yourself in the traditions of a land with a history spanning millennia.

Starting in April, the offer range is enhanced with food and wine itineraries. Recognized as a Mediterranean Blue Zone, the region offers a culinary tradition rooted in simplicity, seasonality, and conviviality, highlighted through diverse and high-profile offerings.
