Nomadix Brings Triathlon Adventure to Loreto, Baja California Sur

The Three-Day Expedition Brings Athletic Challenge and Immersive Exploration to Baja California Sur’s Coastal Gem

Visit Baja California Sur is pleased to announce that Nomadix Adventure, a premier organizer of endurance and adventure events, will host its renowned triathlon in Loreto from November 14–16, 2025. This immersive three-day experience will challenge participants with swimming, cycling, and trail-running courses set against the breathtaking backdrop of Loreto’s pristine coastline, rugged desert terrain, and historic charm. Designed for athletes and adventure travelers alike, the event combines physical endurance with the opportunity to explore one of Mexico’s most captivating coastal destinations.

The Nomadix Loreto Triathlon begins with a 2.8-mile swim around Isla Coronados, where athletes will glide through crystal-clear waters surrounded by dolphins and vibrant marine life. Day two features a 56-mile cycling route from Puerto Escondido to the historic Misión de San Javier, one of California’s earliest missions, offering dramatic desert and mountain vistas along the way. The event concludes on day three with a 15.5-mile trail run through Loreto, starting and finishing at the iconic Misión de Loreto. Throughout the experience, participants will camp under the stars at Juncalito and Misión de San Javier, immersing themselves in the serene beauty and striking landscapes of Baja California Sur.

Loreto offers a striking backdrop for this one-of-a-kind adventure. Just offshore lies the Bay of Loreto National Marine Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site encompassing five main islands—Isla Coronados, Isla del Carmen, Isla Danzante, Isla Montserrat, and Isla de Santa Catalina—perfect for exploration before or after the race. Sparkling waters, hidden coves, and volcanic cliffs contrast dramatically with the desert terrain, adding both challenge and serenity for athletes and travelers alike.

“The Nomadix Triathlon allows participants to experience Loreto in a way that goes beyond traditional tourism,” says Jesus Ordoñez, General Director of Visit Baja California Sur. “From the natural beauty of the islands and marine park to the historic charm of the town itself, Loreto is an ideal location for travelers seeking adventure, culture, and wellness in one unforgettable destination.”

With its small-town character, rich cultural heritage, and boutique accommodations—from Hotel 1697 to Posada de las Flores—Loreto is an inviting base for both triathletes and their supporters. After a day of competition, visitors can stroll through the historic center, relax on black volcanic sand beaches, or savor local specialties like the renowned Almejas Tatemadas (“Chocolate Clams”). This seamless blend of athletic challenge, cultural immersion, and coastal charm promises an experience unlike any other.

Getting to Loreto is easy, with nonstop flights from Los Angeles via Alaska Airlines, from Phoenix and Dallas via American Airlines, or via the Cross Border Xpress from Tijuana International Airport. Nomadix has also arranged shuttle transportation from La Paz the day before the event and day after the event to streamline travel for participants.
