Octant Douro is set to host the inaugural Octant Festival, this year a celebration of the Douro region through fine dining, music, and cultural heritage, taking place from October 24 to 26, 2025. The festival’s debut edition will feature a performance by the acclaimed artist José González and a remarkable gastronomic lineup, bringing together seven chefs—including six Michelin-starred talents—alongside Octant Douro’s resident chef, Dárcio Henriques of RAIVA Restaurant.
Under the theme “The Whole Douro Comes to Octant,” the festival delivers an immersive experience of informal luxury, designed as an annual celebration of culture and place. Its carefully curated program blends global icons with the spirit of the Douro, showcasing chefs, artisans, and producers whose work is deeply rooted in the region’s terraced vineyards and rich cultural heritage.
Filipe Bonina, Marketing Director at Discovery Hotel Management, states:
“The Octant Festival aims to bring to life what we strive to represent every day in our hotels: the essence of the regions where we are located. We will celebrate the Douro from its source to its mouth, offering our visitors a truly exclusive experience.”
For those seeking a comprehensive festival experience, a Weekend Pass (October 24-26) is available, offering full access to Saturday’s program, and a series of exclusive activities available only to guests. For visitors interested in attending a single day, the Saturday Pass (October 25) provides access to the full music lineup and the Michelin-starred culinary showcase.
A Three-Day Sensory Journey
Friday, October 24: The festival begins at sunset with an exclusive four-hands dinner at the acclaimed RAIVA Restaurant, led by resident chef Dárcio Henriques and Spanish guest chef Víctor Martín García. The evening ends with a poolside DJ set by Xinobi, framed by the starry Douro sky.
Saturday, October 25: The festival’s main day begins with wellness experiences. Leading the lunch lineup—open to visitors—are chefs Vasco Coelho Santos, Michelin-starred, 2023 Chef of the Year, and Golden Fork awardee, and Pedro Lemos, a pioneer of contemporary Portuguese cuisine, 2025 Chef of the Year and the first to earn Porto a Michelin star. Joining them are two other Portuguese talents: David Jesus, whose cooking seeks to connect people, and Óscar Geadas, Michelin-starred since 2019.
From the Spanish side of the Douro, Álvar Hinojal Crespo, Michelin-starred since 2022, and Sara Ferreres, holder of both a Michelin Star and a Michelin Green Star, will join the team. Together, these chefs will create signature dishes paired with a curated selection of Iberian wines, with a spotlight on the excellence of the Douro.
The highlight of the music program will be a live concert by Grammy-nominated indie-folk artist José González, famous for selling out iconic venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in London. The lineup also features pianist and composer Máximo Francisco, percussion group Retimbrar, and Portuguese indie duo Best Youth.
In the afternoon, hotel guests will have access to an exclusive discussion with Spanish philosopher Daniel Innerarity.
Sunday, October 26: The final day is an invitation to unwind, with a leisurely breakfast before check-out.
