The Safari Collection’s Giraffe Manor Unveils Major New Expansion

Set within 12 acres of private gardens and surrounded by 140 acres of indigenous forest in Nairobi’s leafy Langata suburb, Giraffe Manor has officially reopened, unveiling a thoughtful new chapter that deepens the guest experience while preserving the charm and character that have made it one of Africa’s most iconic boutique stays.

Part of The Safari Collection, the historic manor remains instantly recognisable, yet a series of carefully considered enhancements now invite guests to spend more time across the property, with new spaces designed to connect more seamlessly to the surrounding forest and wildlife.

A New Family Suite with Front-Row Giraffe Encounters

Among the most notable additions is the new Finch Hatton Family Suite. Designed with families in mind, the spacious suite features two en-suite bedrooms, a private lounge and a balcony perfectly positioned for close-up moments with the manor’s resident Rothschild giraffes. It offers extra privacy and flexibility while maintaining the intimate, once-in-a-lifetime encounters that define a stay at Giraffe Manor.

Breakfast, Reimagined

Morning rituals at Giraffe Manor are legendary, and the redesigned Garden Manor breakfast room elevates the experience even further. With three-sided panoramic views, guests can enjoy breakfast while watching giraffes wander through the gardens and peer through the windows. Anchoring the space is a striking new mural by Kenyan artist Camille Wekesa, celebrating local landscapes and wildlife through a contemporary lens.

Orchid House Evenings and a New Wine Cellar

A new Orchid House introduces a serene, light-filled setting inspired by co-founders Tanya and Mikey Carr-Hartley’s shared love of orchids. Home to around 150 blooms, the space is open throughout the day for quiet moments of reflection, reading or sketching. At dusk, it transforms into an atmospheric venue for candlelit private dinners surrounded by the collection. Nearby, a new walk-in wine cellar showcases a curated selection of standout African wines, with guided tastings led by an expert sommelier available on request.

A Deeper Dive into Kenya’s Coffee Culture

Coffee lovers can now take part in the Garden Coffee Experience, a guided journey through Kenya’s celebrated coffee heritage. From understanding how beans are grown and processed to exploring brewing techniques and flavour profiles, the experience offers a deeper appreciation of one of the country’s most important agricultural traditions.

Wellness at The Retreat

Guests continue to enjoy full access to The Retreat, the wellness sanctuary located just 80 metres from the main manor. Designed as a place to reset before or after travel, The Retreat features a heated infinity pool overlooking the giraffe sanctuary, sauna and steam room, hot tub, fully equipped gym, and treatment rooms for massages and therapies. All-day dining at Daisy’s Café completes the experience, offering relaxed, nourishing fare.

Travel That Gives Back

Every stay at Giraffe Manor supports The Safari Collection’s Footprint Foundation, which funds long-term wildlife and community initiatives across Kenya. Contributions help sustain the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife’s giraffe breeding and protection programme—efforts that have helped bring the endangered Nubian giraffe back from the brink of extinction. The foundation also partners with the Giraffe Conservation Foundation to support wild giraffe populations across Africa, alongside backing education, habitat protection and local community projects.

With its reopening, Giraffe Manor once again sets the benchmark for conservation-led luxury, offering guests an experience where extraordinary encounters, thoughtful design and meaningful impact come together in one unforgettable stay.
