One of the most exciting and innovative events in global golf is set to get underway in Northern Ireland this summer

The ISPS HANDA World Invitational presented by Modest! Golf will run from 28 July – 1 August.

Tickets are now available for the event, which sees men and women compete for the same level of prize money in what is one of the most inclusive golf tournaments in the world.

Following the highly successful inaugural tournament in 2019, this year’s World Invitational is set to be even bigger and better after being elevated to full European Tour status.

It will be the first time an event of this format has been tri-sanctioned by the European Tour, LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour in the northern hemisphere, meaning a world-class field will be in attendance.

The World Invitational will continue to be played over two of Northern Ireland’s finest parkland courses, Galgorm Castle Golf Club and Massereene Golf Club, both in County Antrim and both close to the famous Causeway Coastal Route.

The event will see a field of 288 players, 144 men and 144 women, split the $3 million purse evenly.

Following two practice days, ticketed pro-am and junior pro-am events will run on Wednesday 28 July. The tournament action tees up from the Thursday to Sunday, with alternating tee times between the men’s and women’s groups.

Fans can expect plenty of drama, with the two champions set to be crowned within moments of each other.

Since the tournament’s official announcement in February there has been much demand and excitement at the prospect of live international sporting events taking place once more.

Off the fairways, there will also be loads of activities taking place during tournament week, with further details on the dedicated tournament village to be announced in the coming weeks.

As the tournament is being played at the height of summer, it offers the perfect opportunity for families and friends to enjoy a fun and responsible day out at a live outdoor sporting event while encountering the giant spirit of golf in Northern Ireland.

A limited but flexible ticketing plan has been put in place, and organisers will comply with all government guidelines at the time. A robust refund policy is also in place to safeguard everyone’s interest.

Irish pop star and keen golfer Niall Horan of One Direction fame is one of the people behind the event. His golf management company Modest! Golf was a long-time backer of the NI Open before it was rebranded into the ISPS HANDA World Invitational.

And for those looking to combine spectating with playing, a fantastic golfing getaway can easily be arranged amid Northern Ireland’s collection of 90 excellent links and parkland courses.
