Tomorrow is the annual Cinco de Mayo celebration in Mexico so let the fiesta begin!  Here are a few ideas from NIZUC Resort & Spa for some activities for kids and adults to bring a Mexican theme to your day.  PLAY – Mayan and Mexican themed templates to colour in.  CREATE – a signature IK margarita.  MOVE – with a virtual wellness residency from performance coach, Artur Zolkiewicz.

NIZUC has created 10 colouring templates for kids and adults based on traditional Mayan and Mexican illustrations.  These can be downloaded from NIZUC’s blog and printed at home as a way to relax, relieve stress and give the mind a welcome break from electronic devices.

The margarita cocktail is synonymous with Mexico.  NIZUC is situated in the Yucatan peninsula, home of the habanero chilli, so their IK margarita a little extra kick to it with the addition of a simple chilli syrup and some chilli powder on the rim of the glass.  Make an IK margarita at home by following the recipe found on NIZUC’s blog. Those missing the Mexican sunsets can go one step further and watch it live, margarita in hand, via NIZUC’s live beach cam.

London-based performance coach, Artur Zolkiewicz, is more used to working out with guests on NIZUC’s beach during his annual residency.  To keep us all moving, Artur is hosting a virtual wellness residency throughout May along with international breathwork and mindfulness coach, Artur Paulins, consisting of a series of filmed workouts and a live Instagram classes inspired by NIZUC’s beach and wildlife.  The workouts and classes can be accessed via NIZUC’s Instagram account or blog page

For more Mexican inspired activities, including a one-minute Mayan mindfulness practice, more cocktail recipes and a menu of ceviche, head over to NIZUC’s blog page.  Once a base station for Mayan astronomers, later a presidential retreat for world leaders, today NIZUC Resort & Spa offers a secluded beachfront escape set within a paradise of protected mangroves and lush local foliage facing the white sands of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef – the second largest coral reef in the world.
