cycling vacation

Small group adventure specialist Grand American Adventures today launches two new cycling tours to California, the first in a new cycling series being added to their portfolio of comprehensive US itineraries. These spectacular new tours will take cycling enthusiasts through California’s award-winning wine regions and along the Pacific Coast Highway, the route for the Tour of California, the only US route in the annual UCI World cycling calendar, attracting some of the most renowned cyclists and teams in the world.

Averaging between 40-50 miles per day, the tours are suitable for different levels of ability, with more intense ‘Burner Routes’ available for those who desire more challenging routes. Each day, guests will be able to choose from up to three different ride options of varying intensities. An experienced guide will be with the group throughout and riders will be fully kitted out with the latest, custom fitted 2018 specialized Diverse Comp Cycles for their point to point journey.

Cycling the California Coast

This six-day tour of California’s central coast takes in some of the most premier cycling terrain in the world. From the sandy beaches of the Pacific Coast Highway, endless views of rolling vineyards and citrus valleys, to canyons and low-level mountain ranges, it is easy to see why this stunning route has been chosen for the Tour of California for the past four years. Highlights include a recovery massage at Wine Valley Inn, Solvang, plenty of time at the end of each day to relax on the sun-soaked Californian beaches, and a Santa Maria style BBQ in the “West’s Best BBQ Town”.

Cycling California Wine Country

This epic tour takes in California’s best wine, beer and cycling routes in the iconic Napa Valley and Sonoma County regions. Over six days, guests will pedal past country roads lined with millennia old redwoods, alongside rocky coastal cliffs, and through an abundance of verdant wine lands. Highlights include a recovery hot spring spa treatment, monitoring the geothermal activity of Old Faithful in Calistoga, and a farewell lunch at craft beer favourite, Stone Brewing restaurant.
