CURRENTLY completing a renovation and expansion, Cape Town’s most glamorous boutique hotel, The Marly, has partly reopened – and it looks set to be a stunner before the year is out!
You can’t help but be drawn in by the Mother City’s Camps Bay beachfront. The picture perfect beach, swaying palm trees, dazzling turquoise waters and bronzed sun worshippers set the scene – and then there’s the buzzing Camps Bay strip, with its stylish cocktail spots and dining destinations filled with visitors and the city’s glossy residents. It’s here that luxury boutique hotel property, The Marly Boutique Hotel and Spa, holds court – right in the centre of the action. And thanks to a five-month-long renovation and the addition of a brand new floor it looks like it will remain a firm and favoured fixture for many years to come.
There can be no doubt that The Marly has what is one of the very best positions on the prestigious Camps Bay Golden Mile. Yet despite its prime spot overlooking the beach, it also offers a unique sense of privacy and relaxed exclusivity. The hotel is set back from the road, so once guests are swept upstairs through a private elevator they are cocooned in a secure and inviting environment brimming with five-star design and luxurious spoils – including the newly built Spa and a luxe shopping boutique filled with chic resort wear.
“At The Marly, guests can have the best of both worlds – the chance to engage with the Camps Bay buzz and beach or retreat here and enjoy our decadent offerings and the peace and quiet”, says General Manager, Hannalie Greyling.
Thanks to the transformation, The Marly will be home to an additional 27 suites, being added to the existing 11, bringing the total complement to 38 in December, each of which is dressed in the hotel’s signature sophisticated palette of silvers, whites and grey. Each of the plush rooms boasts utterly beautiful views, be they sea-facing or of the majestic Twelve Apostles and Table Mountain – its food for the soul and a certain visual spoil for guests. Each room also boasts bluetooth music devices and guests can Netflix to their hearts’ content.
Ideal location and gorgeous good looks aside, The Marly is much more than a place to simply spend a few nights while visiting South Africa’s prettiest city – it’s a cosmopolitan lifestyle destination and prolific hospitality specialists and owners of The Kove Collection have ensured this is apparent with this project, their biggest to date.
Guests are invited to make themselves at home at the eateries situated in and around the hotel, including la Belle for a bistro fare and fresh baked pastries; much-loved seafood spot Paranga; and Bilboa, where the daily breakfast-with-a-beachfront-view is served, permanently from December. A brand new dining destination next to la Belle, aptly named Surfshack will also welcome guests from early October. Surfshack is a luxe diner offering a menu which includes sea fare as well as wood fired pizzas and gourmet burgers.
Also, with three more Kove Collection restaurants situated nearby and in-room dining offered from Bilboa, guests can have their every culinary wish indulged. If you fancy drinks and lunch on the beach, this can be easily arranged thanks to the hotel’s unique Beach Butler service.
Adding to the allure of The Marly is the new rooftop pool, bar and lounge. With its Hollywood-style semi-submerged pool loungers and spectacular beach, ocean and mountain vistas, it will be the perfect spot to retreat to after a day on the beach and of course it’s bound to be a hotspot for sundowner cocktails all year round.
For eager shoppers, the new concept store Boutique Marly will offer a curated experience, featuring handpicked fashion, eye-catching accessories and scented luxury products you’ll enjoy long after you’ve departed.
Contemporary luxury travel makes a bespoke spa an integral part of designer downtime, and at The Marly, this is definitely one of the draw cards. The Spa at The Marly has a menu of top-to-toe treatments designed to soothe and spoil – ranging from restorative massages and targeted facials to expert manicures and pedicures as well as a series of bespoke signature treatments, unique to The Marly. And for dusting away the cobwebs those who like to stay fit while away, a new state-of-the-art gym also opens at The Marly in December.
The Marly is named for the countryside folly and ‘leisure palace’ built for the Sun King Louis XIV, where he and his family would escape the rigours of French court life and indulge in pure escapism and fun. Dressed to thrill and offering no end of excitement, frivolity and epicurean spoils, the Chateau de Marly was an oasis of decadence – and it’s 21st century Cape Town counterpart The Marly is a similarly exciting destination, where each and every guest feels like royalty, cocooned in a gorgeous oasis of beachside indulgence.
The comprehensive Marly expansion program will be complete by 1 December 2019.
