Discover a Different Side of Geneva This Summer

This summer, Geneva is set to come alive with an exciting line-up of festivals, concerts, and open-air experiences, inviting visitors to discover a new side of the city. Whether opting for sunrise jazz, open-air films, or a quick swim in the lake between events, Geneva balanceslively culture with relaxed moments by the water – perfect for a summer city break.

To kickstart the season, the Fête de la Musique Genève will fill the city with hundreds of free concerts across streets and green spaces from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 June, perfect for visitors looking to experience Geneva’s lively summer atmosphere, while the AMR Festival at Les Cropettes will bring together jazz and improvised music enthusiasts from Wednesday 24 to Sunday 28 June.

July welcomes the return of Plein-Les-Watts Festival, known for its reggae beats, alternative music, and street art performances, before La Bâtie Festival takes over the city from Tuesday 25 August to Sunday 13 September with a dynamic programme of theatre, dance, concerts and visual arts. Alongside the city’s larger festivals, guests can also enjoy free open-air performances throughout the summer, including lakeside concerts at the Scène EllaFitzgerald and the early morning Les Aubes Musicales sessions at Bains des Pâquis, where live jazz accompanies sunrise over the lake.

Beyond the festivities, Geneva’s lakeside setting offers visitors the chance to slow the pace and experience a more relaxed side of the city during the summer months. Until Monday 28 September, the city’s Beach Line bus route will once again provide easy access to Geneva’s most popular swimming spots and lakeside beaches, free to use with the Geneva Transport Card for guests staying in participating hotels. Visitors can spend sunny afternoons unwinding at Bains des Pâquis and cooling off with a swim at Plage des Eaux-Vives, as well as enjoying water sports and lake access at Genève-Plage, home to an Olympic-sized outdoor pool and open-air activities overlooking the water.

As evening arrives, Geneva’s lakeside comes into its own, with beach clubs, pop-up bars, and open-air venues bringing music and atmosphere to the water’s edge. Visitors can enjoy sunset drinks at Dendê Beach Club, relaxed evenings by the lake at La Chaloupe à vapeur, or catch open-air film screenings at Allianz Cinéma and Ciné Transat, set beside Lake Geneva and the Parc de la Perle du Lac. Alternatively, tourists can wander Geneva’s cobbled streets at their own pace before settling into one of the city’s restaurants recommended in the Geneva Food Guide

Whether opting for lively festivals, open-air entertainment, or peaceful moments by the water, Geneva offers a perfect summer city break that effortlessly combines culture, relaxation, and lakeside living.
