Whistler may be best known for its mountains, but some of the resort community’s most memorable experiences happen beside the water. At Nita Lake Lodge Resort & Spa, guests can move from breakfast overlooking the lake to cocktails and fresh seafood on the patio, all without leaving the quiet surroundings of Whistler Creekside.
The lodge’s restaurants have evolved in recent years. The former Aura Restaurant is now The Den, while Cure Lounge & Patio has been reimagined as Lakeside Lounge. Together with Fix Café, the three dining venues give resort guests, skiers, cyclists and local residents several ways to enjoy Nita Lake throughout the day.
A Quieter Side of Whistler
Located on the shores of Nita Lake, the lodge offers a different atmosphere from the energy of Whistler Village. The Creekside Gondola and Whistler Mountain are nearby, but the property feels connected to the lake, surrounding forest and Valley Trail.
That natural setting is central to the dining experience. Patios look toward the water and mountains, while menus emphasize seasonal ingredients, British Columbia products and herbs and greens grown in the lodge’s rooftop garden.
The culinary program is led by Executive Chef Derek Weerts, whose international experience and particular affinity for seafood help shape the lodge’s current menus.
The Den: Seasonal Dining Beside the Lake
The Den is Nita Lake Lodge’s principal restaurant and the successor to Aura. It serves breakfast and dinner in a relaxed lakeside setting that works equally well for a leisurely morning meal, a celebratory dinner or a quiet evening after a day on the mountain.
Its culinary approach draws on locally farmed and foraged products, premium meats, fresh seafood, artisan cheeses and seasonal produce. Herbs and greens from the rooftop garden help connect the menu to the lodge itself.
The emphasis on seasonality means individual dishes may change throughout the year. That is part of the restaurant’s appeal: a summer dinner overlooking the lake should feel different from a winter meal after skiing.
Rather than trying to force every plate into one rigid culinary style, The Den allows regional ingredients to guide the menu. Diners might encounter locally sourced seafood, carefully prepared meats, vegetable-forward dishes or familiar comfort foods elevated through thoughtful preparation.
The lakeside patio is particularly attractive during the warmer months. With the water only steps away and mountains rising beyond the shoreline, it offers one of Whistler Creekside’s most appealing dining settings.
Reservations are recommended for dinner, especially during ski season, summer weekends and major Whistler events. Current menus and operating hours should be confirmed directly with the restaurant.
Lakeside Lounge: Cocktails, Oysters and Shared Plates
The former Cure Lounge & Patio has become Lakeside Lounge, a polished but approachable space built around cocktails, seafood and plates designed for sharing.
Its raw-bar offerings can include freshly shucked oysters and seafood towers, accompanied by a selection of small plates. The format makes it suitable for several kinds of visits: an afternoon drink, après-ski gathering, casual lunch or relaxed evening beside the lake.
The cocktail program combines recognizable classics with original creations, supported by wine, beer and nonalcoholic options. The setting remains an important part of the experience, particularly when guests can sit outside and watch the light change across Nita Lake.
Lakeside Lounge is also an alternative for travelers who do not want a traditional multicourse dinner. A few shared plates, seafood and cocktails can provide a flexible meal without sacrificing the setting or sense of occasion.
The lounge generally welcomes walk-in guests rather than taking individual reservations, although arrangements may be available for larger groups. Hours and happy-hour periods can change seasonally, so visitors should check the current schedule before arriving.
Fix Café: Coffee and Food for the Trail
Not every meal in Whistler needs to be a lengthy one. Fix Café gives lodge guests and Creekside visitors a convenient option for coffee, breakfast items and food to take away.
The café serves handcrafted espresso beverages alongside smoothies, pastries, sandwiches, pizza and other casual choices. Local beer is also available. Its combination of nutritious options and portable food makes it particularly useful before a day of skiing, hiking or cycling.
Travelers can stop for coffee before heading to the Creekside Gondola, pick up lunch for an outing or refuel after exploring the Valley Trail. It also provides a practical alternative for families and guests whose schedules do not align with a formal restaurant meal.
From Mountain Adventure to Lakeside Dining
Nita Lake Lodge’s location allows travelers to build an entire day around the landscape. In winter, the Creekside Gondola provides access to Whistler Mountain, while the lodge offers ski storage and transportation to Whistler Village.
During the warmer months, the surrounding trail network is suited to walking and cycling. Resort guests can also access seasonal recreational equipment such as bicycles, paddleboards and canoes, subject to availability.
A summer day might begin with breakfast at The Den, continue with a paddle across Nita Lake or a ride along the Valley Trail, and finish with oysters and cocktails at Lakeside Lounge. During winter, guests can return from the mountain for a spa treatment, spend time in a rooftop hot tub and settle in for dinner without traveling back into the main village.
The lodge’s complimentary shuttle gives overnight guests another option for reaching Whistler Village while maintaining a quieter base in Creekside.
Staying at Nita Lake Lodge
Dining is only one component of the experience. Nita Lake Lodge Resort & Spa is a 77-room boutique property and a recipient of One MICHELIN Key, a distinction recognizing hotels that provide a particularly memorable stay.
Its spacious accommodations, fireplaces, lake and mountain views, spa and outdoor amenities make it attractive throughout the year. The property is also pet-friendly, with designated accommodations available for travelers bringing a dog.
The Spa at Nita Lake Lodge offers massages, body treatments and aesthetic services, along with relaxation facilities that include hot tubs, a eucalyptus steam room and sauna. Combining dinner with a spa visit can turn a trip to the restaurant into a more complete Creekside escape.
Planning a Visit
Nita Lake Lodge is located at 2131 Lake Placid Road in Whistler Creekside, approximately two to two-and-a-half hours from Vancouver International Airport by road. Transportation options between Vancouver and Whistler include rental vehicles, scheduled coaches and private transfers.
Visitors do not need to be staying at the lodge to dine at its restaurants. However, reservations, opening hours and menus should be checked before traveling because they may change with the season.
The lodge’s renewed dining program reflects what makes this part of Whistler distinctive. The Den provides a seasonal restaurant experience, Lakeside Lounge brings seafood and cocktails to the water’s edge, and Fix Café keeps active days convenient. Together, they make Nita Lake more than a scenic place to stay—it is also a dining destination worth discovering.
