Planning to Go on a Surfing Trip? Here’s How to Prepare

So, you want to know how to prepare for your next surfing trip. You want to make sure that you’re prepped and ready to go with all the right things! If you’re ready to take on the waves, here’s our list of items you’ll want to pack before heading out.

Equipment

You need to make sure you’ve got the right equipment before heading out. A lot of people are disappointed when they fall in love with surfing, only to find out it’s too expensive because they’re buying all this gear! You want to make sure you have the right clothing before going surfing and don’t forget a wetsuit for catching the waves. Make sure you take a look at the forecast so that you know what kind of weather to expect when. It might be a good idea to bring a poncho for after you get out of the water just in case there is rain! Also, if it gets really cold where you live, take a few extra layers just in case! Some people even bring an extra pair of shoes because walking around wet is no fun at all.

Choosing the Right Surfboard

Make sure you choose a surfboard that is going to be the right size for you. If your board is too big, it will be harder to control and if it’s too small, you’ll have a really hard time staying on top of the water! Most people’s boards are nine feet long, but there are many different sizes. It also depends on how advanced you are in surfing. If this is your first time surfing, your best bet would be to go with something simple. Ask an employee at a surf shop what they recommend when it comes to choosing a surfboard!

How Long You’ll Be Gone

Another thing that’s important to consider when preparing for your trip is how long you’ll be gone! Some people like surfing for an hour or two every day, while others like staying out for days at a time (and bringing plenty of food and camping supplies). Make sure that if you’re going on a longer trip that you have everything you need! It might be a good idea to pre-pack some clothes, just in case the weather changes while you’re gone.

Where and When You’ll Travel

It’s also important to think about where you’ll be traveling. If you’re going to a certain location, and it involves travel by boat or plane, you should make sure to do some research on what the rules are! For example, if you will need a visa for your country of choice, make sure that you get one before heading out. It’s also very important that you think about how long and where you plan on surfing while away from home! Some people like to surf every day while others might only take a morning off once in a while! It all depends on your personal preference and the kind of activities (or lack of!) you’ll be doing during your trip. It’s important to think about when you will start surfing. For example, in Australia, most people like to go in April because wind conditions are usually better than in other months! If you don’t want to follow the crowd, however, there is never a bad time to go out and try something new! Here are a few of the best places throughout the world for beginners to start surfing.

Australia

Australia has some of the most consistent waves in the world, making it one of the top spots for beginner surfers! Many people say that Sydney is one of their favorite cities because there is so much room to practice and tons of different surf breaks around where you can watch other pro surfers before trying out your skills!

Thailand

One of our personal favorites, Thailand is home to many great beaches where beginner surfers can hone their skills, as well as a great party atmosphere if you’re traveling with friends!

Bali

Balinese people are known to be some of the friendliest in all parts of the world. If you’re looking for a place that’s warm, tropical, and full of great waves, then look no further! Some people say that this is one of the best places on earth, especially if you want to learn how to surf! They have many different types of surfing classes depending on your skill level so don’t worry about it being too hard or too easy.

Brazil

Brazil has tons of good beaches where beginner surfers can practice their skills. You might also want to visit Iguaçu Falls because they are spectacularly beautiful! No matter where you decide to go, what’s important is that you have a great time and catch some killer waves!

Safety Precautions You Should Know

It’s also important to think about safety while you’re surfing so that you don’t get into trouble. If you have family or friends back home, it might be a good idea to let them know where exactly you will be so they can track your movement if anything were to happen. It’s also really important that whenever you go on vacation, make sure that someone knows exactly when and where you’ll be! You should never surf alone. Also, whenever you’re surfing in the ocean, make sure that you’re using a leash with your surfboard. It can also be a good idea to pack a few bandages and some kind of water-proof sunscreen if you plan on going for multiple days. Another thing to beware of is rocks and reefs! If you’re not familiar with the waters that surround your chosen destination, it’s always best to ask around and find out what kind of marine life might be lurking below. Some places like Puerto Rico are full of sharks! Don’t forget about safety while traveling because accidents can happen anywhere at any time.

So, to prepare for your surfing trip, make sure that you’re ready and packed with the right equipment before heading out! You also want to make sure that you know how long and where you plan on going because it all depends on what kind of experience you want as well as any other transport or location requirements. In addition, consider how often and where you will be surfing so that you can pack accordingly! By being prepared before your next surf trip, this activity has the potential to be a lot more fun!
