Meliá’s Shanghai debut brings focus to holistic wellness experiences and personalized services

One of the most anticipated hotel openings this spring, Meliá Shanghai Hongqiao makes its debut as the brand’s flagship property in China. Located just minutes from Shanghai’s National Exhibition & Convention Center, the luxury urban hotel is Meliá Hotels International’s third in China, following Gran Meliá Xian and Meliá Jinan.

The modern property features 187 rooms with high ceilings and fabric-lined walls, juxtaposed with marble and walnut wood. The design merges contemporary décor with accents of oriental art. It is also home to Merkado, a dual Mediterranean-Pan Asian dining experience helmed by award-winning Chef Abel Lopez Reina.

YHI Spa, Meliá’s signature wellness sanctuary, promises to pamper, boasting Shanghai’s first and only Aqua Healing and Chakra Vibration therapies. Spa products are carefully sourced from organic ingredients and essential oils; and in-room bath amenities are provided by luxury bath and body care specialist, Molton Brown.

On the eastern flank of the hotel are three Garden Villas that feature traditional Chinese design and touches, complemented by well-appointed amenities. Villa guests can enjoy in-room check-in, limousine service, 24/7 butler service, and private chef dinners upon request.
